Absolutely Loved It!

buzzgav from from London, 23rd January, 2008

I had read all the bad reviews on the internet but thought i'd see it anyway and i'm really glad i did - then i can form my own opinion! The only bad point is the acting - yeah, it's a bit wooden and predictable but hey! I felt the storyline picked all the best bits from the Aliens/Predator films and attempted to recycle them - although it wasn't done really well, it was done well enough to keep your attention throughout the whole film. There was enough action from both the Aliens and Predators and was impressive. I do think this is for die-hard fans of the Aliens/Predator films but give it a go and enjoy it for the action/sci-fi flick it is!

shambles

A Customer from Edinburgh, 18th January, 2008

I read all the bad reviews from the states, but as a fan you have to see these films. Unfortunately the bad reviews are all correct. This is a mixed up shambles of a film, it jumps about from one scene to the next not knowing what story if any it is trying to tell. The whole Predator v Alien thing just does not work, another stand alone Predator film would have been a smarter idea. I would suggest you just wait for the dvd if you have to see it.

ALIENS VS PREDATOR:REQUIEM

JonnyDay from , 25th January, 2008

I won't tell you too much but in this film the predator is like the one in 1 & 2 - sounds and imagery ripped straight out of the originals, brilliant, the aliens are james cameron's aliens hardly any CGI and sound effects are from the original aliens. The music is awesome as well, every theme from all the franchise is in there at some point. The negative, this is no where near as good as arnie's, the human characters just don't cut it, there's no dutch or hudson to root for, no memorable patter like 'fall in situation position get karnov on de hook' and of course no sign of jim hopper, but i would put it on par with predator 2 which if you consider how crap the last two alien films have been thats not bad. The gore and violence is back and the big baddie's breeding methods are horrific.

very average

The brothers strauss who directed the new avp film said they were gonna make a much better film than avp pt 1 and it would please fans again of both franchises..yawn..it was so obvious from the outset this was gonna be mediocre at best and it was!! I though AVP 1 was ok..not nearly as bad as some suggested it was but certainly no masterpiece and not as best as the best aliens and predator movies seperately..it was a good actioner with litle else to recommend and had the always watchable lance henrikson too. This however has a bunch of mtv actors and some of the worse editing and lighting work i've seen in a film!! Trust me you cannot see a thing that goes on in this film!!..ok so its set at night fair enogh but when the action scenes start the editing is so frantic and the lighting so dark, the scenes lose any cohesion and you miss half of what was filmed. The brothers strauss should stick to sfx and stay away from directing. I hope this is the last avp film..i can't see much of a future for aliens as all the mystery and scares were eliminated eons ago but i still believe a kick ass predator film can be made given the right script and director..here's hoping?

AVPR - Always Read Peoples Reviews

A Customer from Neath, 12th February, 2008

Do NOT - under ANY circumstances go to see Alien Vs Predator: Requiem. It Is Dire!!!! Beyond Dire - this is the worst film I have seen in the last 10 years!!! And that takes some doing. I have seen some Rubbish! This film however makes the likes of Resident Evil look like an epic and even Missing In Action looks like a cool well thought out piece of drama compared to this evil little squitter...! The plot... er... there isn't one. A Predator has an alien burst out of it and then it crash lands on Earth in smallville mid America. For some reason only one Predator leaves its home world to go to Earth to take on the Aliens. That's it. I have recently watched Alien 3 (Spec Ed) - which was still an unholy mess of a picture, and I own all Alien Films, AVP and Predator (I can't bring myself to buy Predator 2 - Danny Glover as a hard cop; he's 'too old for this sh*t') - and I can't help thinking that some studio number crunchers coupled with illiterate adolescent Internet geeks put this mess on the screen. I can't even say put it together, because there simply is no togetherness in the film. Neither is there any logic as Alien after Alien appear from nowhere with no thought as to how or why they got there, or what they are trying to do. If Alien 3 was a slap-in-the-face for fans of Alien/Aliens then AVPR is Grevious-Bodily-Harm. Two dimensional human characters are introduced simply to be killed either immediately or within a few scenes. You don't get to know anyone so you don't care about anyone, and those you might like to protect (like children and babies) are ruthlessly killed off in the most bad tasting cinema I have ever seen. As a result there is no tension, no excitement, no story and no f***ing point in wating your money watching this SHIIIII-IIIIIIITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's the word - pass it on.

Stunningly bad.

Matters from from West Malling, Kent, 23rd July, 2008

Directed by idiots, written by idiots, acted by idiots, edited by idiots and watched by...yeah, idiots. How I wish I hadn't bothered. Though in a way I didn't. This film is so dark that you cannot make out more than half of what was going on. I assume that this was done to cover up the fact that budget was tight and the Aliens and Predator looked exactly what they were, men in costumes. Please don't bother with this film, it will only ecourage them. One other point, in these days of media saturation, surely somebody would have filmed an Alien and posted it on the web. Which blows the whole idea of the original Alien films, as no one had ever encountered them. Yet they'd been here on earth. Oh, the humanity!

too dark

daveyblue from from Hartlepool, 19th May, 2008

I couldn't tell what the hell was going on most of the time as its just to damn dark! Aliens and Predator didn't have to turn the lights out in their previous films. With the sfx available today, they made a right mess of this film. Also, you wanted Ripley and Arnie to survive, this lot you couldn't care less about.

Aaaalllmmmmmost there...

Talyn from from Edinburgh, 29th April, 2008

From what I had heard leading up to seeing this I was led to believe that this was good enough to close the book on the whole Aliens (and Predator) saga. After being a hard core geek for all things Alien (tm) I have been longing for closure on the franchise, if anything to end the heart-wrenching pain of watching progressively worse sequels and the studio's mangling of the original concept. 1st the good point: The detail they go into with the Predator is astounding! It's been too long waiting for someone to properly bring the Predator as a species to the screen and I feel this does it. There is much more info about there home-world, technology and social structure. Now the bad: Ignoring the hopeless character introductions which just annoy you by interrupting the interesting stuff (who cares who's dating who or why someones job sucks, they'll probably be dead in a few minutes anyway..) my first annoyance comes by the way they rush through the Alien's growth. Something which is such a major point of the other movies and woven into the story is rushed through in literally 5 minutes here; going from chestburster to eggs to facehuggers to chestbursters to army of Aliens almost before the intro credits have stopped rolling. I know the fans will say 'but it's a PredAlien so grows faster and anyway we're watching the movie for the fights not the plot'. Whatever. I like action AND story. Secondly, after the first half of the movie comes my next problem: Every single scene, line, camera shot, sound effect, special effect etc. is a clone of the best bits from all the other Aliens movies; there is nothing original from here on in. The lead Actor/actress both look and sound like Hicks/Ripley, the APC looks and sounds just like 'the' APC. There is a newt clone. The guns sound like pulse rifles. There's a character called Dallas! They rape the whole 'maternal' theme to the movies - literally. They duplicate scenes line-for-line, shot-for-shot! A fan boy wet dream but an original movie suitable for closure - No. So why 4* then? Because it's good. Damn good!...From an action movie/special effects point of view. And fun. But from a story, script, acting, plot-line integrity and originality point of view, it falls short. For a proper end to the Saga I think they need to look to the Comic books...in my opinion the answer lies there.

At the sound of the bell…come out fighting.

Mezza from from Glasgow, 13th August, 2008

Let’s face it: this isn’t exactly ‘Lawrence of Arabia or Gandhi’ but it is a good Sci-Fi Horror/Action movie. The aesthetic of Alien & Predator on the screen is always enjoyable to watch, so what’s not to like with both of them going at it once again ‘round the block. The plot is thin, anorexic to be honest. Basically one of the Alien creatures escapes from the Predator’s space ship, causing some damage before he makes his exit to…Earth. Heavily p*ssed off, the Predators follow in deadly pursuit and so the games commence. AVP 2 isn’t as fast paced and action fuelled as the first instalment and the acting and dialogue leave a lot to be desired but the creatures are great and the special effects are, well, effective. So if you enjoyed the first one then you will like this, though probably not as much as the previous effort. At the sound of the bell…come out fighting.

Stitched together

MarkedMan from , 1st June, 2008

This would have been really good if I was 13 again! This feels like a hotchpotch of many films from the same genre. Predictable, boring, most of it shot at night, (presumably to make the monsters scarier but we just could not see anything). This film did not need to be made!
