Gentle comedy, thoughtful drama

I've been enjoying a bit of an 80s' movies nostalgia fest recently.....and so I was really pleased to spot this on TCM. There are some good central peformances from Mary Stuart Masterson and Andrew McCarthy, ably supported by the likes of Kevin Dillon and Patrick 'McDreamy' Dempsey. Donald Sutherland is great as St Basil's headmaster, and there's a wonderful scene when Wallace Shawn gives a talk at the school dance ranting about the 'filthy beast' called lust! Don't rent this movie expecting it to change your life, but it's a pleasant way to spend an hour and a half. Thank you God.

Catholic Boys featured a few of the members of the Brat Pack before they got really famous. It was great to see everyone so young. The film was very enjoyable itself as well.

Good film for its time. But with all the revelations about the Catholic Church, a little tame.

An 80s classic which stands up well today thanks to a sharp script full of great one liners and strong performances all round.

Not What i had expected

I ordered this film because the write-ups for it seemed really good. However, it is now dated and not worth watching.
