Director Bottled it!

Slikflik from from Brandon, 20th November, 2009

Typical 'down at heel and last chance at glory' movie that is acted and portrayed very well. Some family complications with his daughter and job trouble give Micky Rourke's character some empathy from the viewer that serve to make him more personable. A very watchable film that is sorely let down by the ambiguous ending. Rather than promoting debate I felt that the director bottled it. Did it end in disaster or did it end up ok? Who knows but do watch it and draw your own conclusion. A well worth a watch movie though and better than most rubbish that is out there.

What a great return by Micky R; he deserved the Oscar for this! Great Movie - not least as it allowed me to be able to prove to my teenager that WWE is a load of set pieces!

This was a very good movie on the insight of the wrestling game, Micky is brilliant as the aging wrestler with the heart of gold, well worth a rent,

Two Words - Mickey Rouke !!!

A Customer from Watford, 19th November, 2009

What an outstanding film this was. Not much into wrestling but read some of the reviews, so thought give it a try. This film was Mickey's from the start. Looking at his character. Such a sad film, losing his family along the way, the processes of his life etc. Must watch film

A film definitely made for Mickey Rourke but you do need to like wrestling to enjoy. A heart rending story bought to life by the superb acting.

The Wrestler

Nachooooo from from Liphook, 18th November, 2009

Great lead performance. Strangely engaging if not a bit predictable. Not much happens but some very gritty scenes and wider thesmes of getting old, regret, self destruction and life direction. One of thise films I wasn't bothered about seeing but gald I did!

Gritty Mickey

JohnnyPosh from , 17th November, 2009

A top class performance from Mickey Rourke deserving of the plaudits. What a film. I found myself yearning for Randy to sort his life out - it was a mesmerising tale of a man who'd made many mistakes, hurt his loved ones but underneath all these failings and struggles, he's a vulnerable human being with a big heart who refuses to give in. (No wonder they cast Mickey Rourke!) Definitely recommend this if you like your drama gritty and human.

Well acted...

Mickey Rourke impresses on his return as an aging but loved wrestler keen to sort out his family problems whilst he still can. More documentary than action thriller but still entertaining.

Over Hyped

BUBBLES1972 from from Bridgend, 13th November, 2009

Not a bad film but alas very over rated i feel. Mickey Rourke was good but i dont feel oscar winning. Very Rocky in its story but not as likeable. A good watch but wouldnt rave about it.
