Ricky Gervais doing his akward comedy thing, very funny and sad too.
better than I expected

I dodn;t really have high hopes for this movie, but was really pleasantly suprised. Ricky Gervais is not your typical leading man and in his first major role he holds his own in what is a charming if predictable 'I can see dead people' type movie. worth a watch if there is nothing else on.

This was funny - I got quite attached to grumpy ole Ricky Gervais. Is he going to turn into a comic romantic hero, do we think?

I thought this was a rather good watch, its rather serious for Ricky but has a great storyline. I would watch this one over again, i don't normally watch films more then once but i liked this one a lot. The film was really well made and filmed well. Its not as funny as i thought but didn't disappoint. I love this film.

I loved it. Superb black comedy from a comedy giant. I am watching it again tonight with my hubbie - with the half price pizza from M&S - what more could you want?
The Problem with Ricky Gervais.

The David Koepp film Ghost Town is a familiar twist on a endless retold story, of true love in a unrealistic world. Even though this film does have funny moments it relies on to mean cheap laughs for its own good. This film has a good cast which do their best work with a script that is missing intelligence and is too predictable at times. Ricky Gervais in this film is good but struggles get his talent and his known brand of comedy which has made him fames through this very American script. It seems that the curse of Gervais is still stuck like many other English Comedies that have cracked American, if it is not written by them it going to be a flop. The film lets him play his normal gloomier, sarcastic self to a point but is suppressed by the American lack of intelligence to American comedy we except these days from our allies across the water. My advice for this film is if you are looking for a light hearted, easy watching comedy this is the film for you. If you are a Ricky Gervais fan looking to see his next big film I would look elsewhere.
A Surprise Package

This film really was a surprise. It's more than just a soppy American rom com and has some great performances in it. Genuinly funny at times and genuinly moving at times too.Rent this for an undemanding but entertaining evening in with some one you might care about.

I'm not a huge Ricky Gervais fan but liked the sound of the plot of this one. I rented it, not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't say that I've become a fan of the man just a fan of this movie.
