Definitely, Maybe features Ryan Reynolds stars as Will Hayes, a 30-something Manhattan dad in the midst of a divorce when his 10 year-old daughter, Maya (Abigail Breslin), starts to question him about his life before marriage. Maya wants to know absolutely everything about how her parents met and fell in love.

Will's story begins in 1992, as a young, starry-eyed aspiring politician who moves to New York from Wisconsin in order to work on the Clinton campaign. For Maya, Will relives his past as an idealistic young man learning the ins and outs of big city politics, and recounts the history of his romantic relationships with three very different women.

Will hopelessly attempts a "PG" version of his story for his daughter and changes the names so Maya has to guess who is the woman her father finally married. Is her mother Will's college sweetheart, the dependable girl next-door Emily (Elizabeth Banks)? Is she his longtime best friend and confidante, the apolitical April (Isla Fisher)? Or is she the free-spirited but ambitious journalist Summer (Rachel Weisz)?

As Maya puts together the pieces of her dad's romantic puzzle, she begins to understand that love is not so simple or easy. And as Will tells her his tale, Maya helps him to understand that it's definitely never too late to go back...and maybe even possible to find a happy ending.

Definitely terrible!

A Customer from Sheffield, 6th February, 2008

I saw this film at a free preview. It was absolutely terrible!!! The basis of this romantic comedy is that a man is telling his daughter about the three serious relationships he has had with women, the viewer and the daughter are expected to guess which one is her mother and who he will end up with. I hated every cliched, gut wrenchingly awful second of this film. Every character is a cardboard cut out of all the other stereotypical characters you see in all other bad romantic films. And it goes on and on for two and a half hours!!!! This film is aimed at the Valentines Day audience but could possible break couples up out of the sheer boredom of it all. Don't do it to yourselves!

Best chickflick I've seen in ages

A Customer from Antrim, 22nd February, 2008

Please don't be put off by the bad reviewers - they were obviously having a really bad day to have hated this film, as it is one of the most feelgood movies I've ever seen. Go for a nice girl's day out with your friends and finish off with this. Ryan Reynolds is just deliciously adorable and his daughter in the film is an absolutely brilliant little actress. I wasn't particularly keen on Little Miss Sunshine, but she was great in this movie. You just can't really go wrong with this.

Simple rom-Com

juliec3067 from , 7th February, 2008

I also saw this film on a free preview and to be honest it does exactly what is say's on the box. A light, breezy comedy well suited for a Valentines release date. If you don't have any big expectations of this type of film it will deliver what you expect. A sweet romantic comedy, easy to watch and a couple of giggles along the way. My verdict- not bad!

Definitely Maybe

A Customer from Berkshire, 9th February, 2008

Saw this on a free screening and we all really liked it. If you want a good girlie movie (don't bother taking the men) then this fits that criteria. Although not in the same league as the likes of Pretty Woman or Miss Congeniality I would still definitely recommend this movie if you want an easy, fun, take your mind off things rom-com.

Reality is there

Feeefa from , 6th March, 2010

I liked this film as there is a kind of reality in it. The man's life can have lots of stages and these stages are noticable in this film. The true love is there and always there in the life , I think.

Single issue fest

Daibhmac from , 1st March, 2010

In the first ten minutes we were indirectly told via posters and allusions not to vote Republican, and then told by an obnoxiously, self-righteous know-it-all child not to eat meat and smoke - she reacted to her dad's habit as if he were a cocaine addict. In the first five minutes the brat also gave her dad a lexiconical lesson - the use of the word 'penis' -in sex education. It was said in a way that in normal circumstances that a child would cringe not the dad. If this public exchange - it took place in a busy library - between a child and adult took place in this 'politically correct' obsessed unreal world, the father would've been carted off as a paedophile, and the brat put into care. I wouldn't pay the asking price for this film. I wouldn't buy it at all. We ended viewing the film in just over ten minutes, preferring instead to watch Whistle Down the Wind, a charming 1960s film depicting a time when children were children and dads behaved like dads.
