warning!!!

A Customer from Letchworth Garden City, 13th June, 2008

DO NOT see this movie if you think it's going to be good like "Signs" or "The sixth sense". I wasted 90 minutes of my life watching this film, it was rubbish, the acting by everyone was rubbish, the plot was rubbish, the script was rubbish!! 90 minutes of rubbish!!
I'm so glad I didn't pay to watch this (friend at cinema!) if I had, I would have asked for my money back! I was actually shocked by how bad this film was when I left the cinema. I wouldn't even watch it on dvd or the tv. It wasn't even a good B movie, god knows who actually financed it.

The Happening

A Customer from Basingstoke, 6th June, 2008

From M. Night Shymalan, director of 'Signs', 'The Sixth Sense', 'Lady in the Water' and 'Unbreakable' comes 'The Happening'. Humanity is under threat in this chilling story which focuses on a middle school science teacher (Mark Wahlberg), his estranged wife (Zooey Deschanel), best friend (John Leguizamo) and his daughter as they fight to stay alive while a powerful neurotoxin creates global chaos. What exactly is going on here? People all along the Eastern Seaboard of the United States are just dropping down dead. Is this some kind of new terrorist attack perhaps? Or is it something else? Something insidious and embedded in nature itself? Something has taken control of the world‘s animals and plants and that something also has plans for humanity. Cut off from the rest of humanity, the small band of survivors must rally together and determine the source of this strange pandemic. Watch it.

The Happening

A Customer from hull, 21st March, 2010

I was very disappointed with this title. A film with Mark Walberg as the lead is usually guaranteed to keep u entertained but i found this film very bland, low on shock value and generally very lack lustre in all departments. Overall i was not kept entertained and was actually bored by the half-way mark so sorry can only rate this film as 2 star.

Good Message... Poor Delivery

TrueReviews from , 19th March, 2010

Now I loved Signs, The Village and The Sixth Sense... I also enjoyed Mark Wahlberg in some of his other movies, so I gave this a go. The end result is, I was left unsure if I liked it or not. I thought the message the film gave us was good and the event was very clever (even if I did guess what was happening within two minutes)... Unfortunately the performances were very hit and miss. Mark Wahlberg in particular being great in one scene, then absolutely horrific in the next. As much as I hate to point the finger at any one person in particular, his acting was down-right appauling in places. For example, after one big event, he simply says 'oh no' with zero emotion, fear or energy... I'm not even exaggerating, you'll see what I mean and cringe also. Perhaps he's not to blame, after all the director is supposed to tell the actor what he wants from them and his co-star was terrible in places too. Overall it's an ok film. I'd rent it, watch it the once and quite happily never watch it again. It could have been so much more if the two lead roles were actually giving their all. Just don't expect to be blown away by what should have been a classic.

Non Event

A Customer from Southampton, England, 15th March, 2010

This film was, to be quite blunt, less of a happening, and more of a non event. The film Signs (By the same Director) was without a doubt, a great movie, suspenseful, tense, well plotted and well worth watching. The Happening stumbles from one shock to another, it's disjointed, and leaves you unsatisfied at the end. The basic story line is a great idea, in essence. People acting suicidally, with no apparent cause, and as the story develops, even the thought that nature is the attacker could be a good one. People jumping off a high rise construction site, a whole town hanging themselves, both worthy plot developments, but let down by a weak story line and a cast that stumbles from one horrifying calamity to another. Unfortunately the whole film turns into one big calamity, with unsatisfying story lines, disappointing dialogue and instantly forgetable performances from the leading cast. For me, the best part of this film was the titles at the end!

I'm speechless

A Customer from London, 14th March, 2010

This movie left me speechless. Very bland, with no proper ending and a very average plot. I advise you to give it a miss.
