Very much worth watching

100 club from England, 16th August, 2009

Excellent Without ruining the film for you, here is a quick run through. An american Teenage boy at college, who lives a troubled life at home/school etc, has just one love, cinema and dreams of becoming a director. The high school/college are offering a scholarship to the pupil who produces the best 10 minute film. The boy teams up with an old film lighting man called Flash Madden who helped make classic films (citizen Kane etc). The problem is Flash is now a drunk and has many chips on his shoulders. The film explores the growing relationship between the two and how they overcome many problems to produce a film showing how many retired people are forgotten/neglected and placed in nursing homes . Its a great film better than it sounds and well worth watching.

WHEN WILL THEY EVER LEARN ?

A Customer from Burnham, 27th September, 2009

Those who produce DVDs appear to be unaware a percentage of users have difficulties with hearing and therefore SUBTITLES are essential ! This movie had a good storyline and a cast of capable actors, however the sound and photography left a lot to be desired and the quality was badly affected. If a DVD lacks subtitles this should be clearly indicated before selection is made

God this is DREADFUL

A Customer from uk, 29th August, 2009

REALLY REALLY REALLY RUBBISH. We managed to last 15 mins - its all are nouveux and flash photography. What could and should have been a great film is ruined by a VERY weak supporting cast, lousy direction and a mediocre scrit. DONT BOTHER

An indictment of Hollywood

Dungbeetle from , 30th October, 2009

A powerful performance by Christopher Plummer as a bitter gaffer rejected by the current movie business as too old and ugly. The ghosting effect on several scenes depicting old film reel makes it difficult to watch at times and spoils the continuity. The ex movie makers in the retirement home had potential for expanding into great characters but this was not used enough. The central plot between the young boy and old man was competently done. A film worth seeing once.
