Set against the gritty urban scenescape of Berlin and a pounding techno soundtrack, RUN LOLA RUN is a frenetic, inventive existential thriller that explores the life-altering impact of seemingly inconsequential actions. Beautiful, hip, and young, poor Lola has but 20 minutes to locate a missing bag containing 100,000 Deutsche marks or come up with the money some other way--if she can't, gangsters are going to kill her boyfriend. A pulse-raising race against time, the film employs a startling array of innovative techniques to present three separate scenarios, all departing from a single split-second decision Lola makes. Franka Patente, who also sings on the soundtrack, is mesmerizing as Lola. Winner of the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival; Best Film, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director at the German Film Awards; 1998 Bambi Award; and the Golden Space Needle Award for Best Film at the Seattle International Film Festival.

has to be in german with subs

technobrakes from from Bodmin, 22nd March, 2008

this is a quality film with great sound, to hear it as it was origionaly intended you have to put the sound in german with English subtitals. The English soundtrack is so bad that if you are not prepared to read the subs then I wouldn't bother.

amateur, boring and repetitive

John Medhurst from NW England, 10th March, 2008

Got about an hour or more through this before giving up. On blu ray it looks crisp, and the sound is good. But the English dubbing is terrible. Felt like we were watching a student project.

Somniferous

A Customer from Reading, 25th March, 2008

I was really looking forward to seeing this having read some very complementary critical reviews citing a fast-paced action with great use of cinematic devices. The reality is that this is a very dull, painfully paced and repetitive piece of amateur film-making. The main precept of the film appeared to be that 'different actions lead to different outcomes' and it thus repeats one 20 minute escapade three times to explore the existential ramifications of this. No characterisation, slow pacing, poor dialogue. Its neither clever, funny, inteleectually stimulating or exciting. Avoid at all costs.

I guess that this film got talked up by my pals and by reviews. However, I just never saw the point in the whole thing. The film just passed me by.

Run Lola, Run Lola, Run Lola- 3 times!!

ParkerLou from West Midlands, 22nd July, 2009

An interesting idea, but repetitive and mundane really. Clearly a low budget film, and from that point of view, interesting I guess (I'm being generous!). The gist is picked up quickly and as such the film is a little laboured. The theme is fate I guess and the difference that a few seconds can make. Soundtrack is decent, but the rest though interesting is not interesting enough. A clever idea but wouldn't want to spend an evening viewing a clever idea. Doesn't entertain enough. Quirky though.
