With everyone fearing for their very existences, the role of protector falls into the lap of the lazy, irreverent Po, (Jack Black) a panda more used to slacking off than facing great challenges. The Panda done good

citizenk from , 22nd June, 2008

After a slew of substandard, totally anonymous,computer-animated duds,I have to confess that I didn't high hopes for this. But against all the odds this might well turn out to be one of the best films in any genre you're likely to see this summer. Telling a very simple story, very skillfully it is a joy from start to end.Basically,a fat Panda (voiced by Jack Black in his best role to date)who works in his fathers noodle bar in ancient China dreams of being a Kung Fu master. After making a fool of himself trying to enter a Kung Fu tournament in his village,he is spotted by a priest who is convinced the Panda is destined to be a Kung Fu master. The film looks excellant, the martial arts fights reminded me of 'Crouching Tiger',the voices are perfect especially Black, himself and Dustin Hoffman as a world weary Kung Fu master. The animation is as good as anything Pixar have done, and for once a computer animated film is not trying to be all self-knowing and post-modern.

Fails on every level

HRH1 from from London, 8th January, 2009

The moral is: ‘ You don't need talent and a lifetime of hard work to succeed, everyone's a champion’ - and therefore utterly meaningless. You want your kids to grow up thinking they can just become an overnight success at something and life will be handed to them on a plate? Kung-fu films are amazing because of the skill and dexterity of the performer, having cartoon kung-fu characters do acrobatics is pretty flat. The humour is limited as the story tries to teach its meaningless message. Watch Madagascar 2 instead, that’s a great film about how a black man can learn to accept his gay son.

DREAM-ON-WORKS, BUT AWW C'MON IT'S FUN!!!

hunkydomste from from Liverpool, 22nd November, 2008

We'll make that 3 and a half stars, shall we.... Whoever said that this time round Dreamworks had delivered a match to Pixar's latest outing (a little film called Wall-E), must have indeed been dreaming or should have gone to Specsomethings. That ludicrous comparison aside, Kung Fu Panda is perfectly good, fun entertainment with a predictable underdog-to-topdog (or top Panda) story, necessary villain, sidekicks and sideshow bobs thrown in. There are some genuine big laughs and the voice talent is simply stellar (Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Lucy Liu, Jackie Chan...), but this should not be watched for anything other than it is: simple fun with a bit of a morale.

Ok... just... Ok...

PaulaWestwood from , 13th July, 2008

Slightly above average, but for all the fanfare the previous led us into, the movie did not live up to the hype. Fun though it was, it was just too simplistic and undercomplicated to keep anyone above the age of I'd say 7 completely entralled. Look, I know its a kids movie, but the recent studios output of things like Alvin, Horton, Spiderwick etc all have something hidden for the adults to keep them entertained enough to sit along with the young 'uns... well not this, I'm afraid even your entourage will be fidgety and you will be counting the minutes a bit, though just about worth a viewing, if you have seen the trailers, I am afraid to say you have probably seen all the quality the movie had to offer.

this film was quite boring to say the least, it is not one for all the family more like one for just the children and young ones at that.

Really fun film, light humour

A Customer from Ipswich, Suffolk, 3rd March, 2010

We saw a trailer for this months before it came out and knew it was going to be a funny film, and we weren't let down. This film is a great laugh, some really light humour, the kind of film you can 'just watch and enjoy'. I don't usually like cartoons/animations, but I thoroughly recommend Kung Fu Panda ... the phrase 'Skidoosh' has now entered our vocabulary at home!
