All they want for Christmas is a funnier script

PaulaWestwood from , 2nd December, 2007

Bah Humbug, I so wanted this to be great... First of all, this has some brilliant sets, the North Pole thing is brilliant, and is equalled by the talent (Paul Giamatti, Vince Vaughan, Rachel Weisz), unfortunately what it doesn't have is a huge sack of laughs. It does raise a titter every now and again, but it never sets an atmosphere and gets too bogged down in in-law infighting, and forced 'nicey' bits to make it really palatable for young or old alike. It just doesn't feel Christmassy, and isn't that what you want out of a Christmas film ? Even the little ones in our screening seemed bemused, and bored, half way through and seemed to catch on that this was a bit contrived even given the subject matter. Add to this just about everyone acting like they just couldn't be too bothered with the whole thing (the worset thing I have seen Vaughan or Giamatti do, they must be ringing their agents in the Ho Ho Hope of getting a better film next time). Hey, I don't want to sleigh-t this too much, but you can be sure there are better, can't recommend this too much, in fact I'm off to watch Grinch to Cheer myself up.

Sibling Anonymous?

A Customer from SW London, 24th December, 2007

WARNING:A grown up can only watch this movie during the festive season, during any other time and he will be prone to gagging!! The script is silly, and everything is so whimsically stupid that I don't even know if a 10 year old will be convinced!! Vince Vaughn is NOT cut out for comedy. The movie is just silly, I don't even know if I would recommend it for kids...BUT.....I was in festive cheer so I watched it, with the same good cheer. Under that good, festive cheer it wasn't too bad, perhaps on any other day though I wouldn't watch past 5 minutes and switch it off!!

We all loved this film, if only it had come during the month of December. The story was magical and the characters were good my two younger children still believe

A Little Case Of Sibling Rivalry!!!

A Customer from Wolverhampton, 6th January, 2010

A very funny family film to watch over the Christmas period with some great performances from 'Vince Vaughn' and 'Paul Giamatti'.
It is just one of those great festive feel-good movies like 'Elf' or 'Scrooged', and you can definitely watch this more than once.
My only negative comment is that I found 'Rachel Weisz' rather annoying as she put on a stupid Cockney accent that drove me mad. What was the point when we all know she speaks really posh and since she was playing 'Vaughn's English girlfriend, why did she need the accent.??

Would recomend this film

A Customer from Birmingham, England, 26th November, 2009

I loved this film, I am a bit soppy when it comes to Christmas anyway but the story line kept me hooked and I liked the characters. It always helps as well if you like some of the leading actors and I love Vince Vaughan.
