Half Blood (BOOK REVIEW)

TomMarvoloRiddle from from Nuneaton, 15th February, 2009

As you may be aware this film isn't due out in the cinema till June 2009, and therefore not due on DVD before Nov 2009 if not March 2010. But what can I tell you about 'Half Blood' without releasing too much of the plot? Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and his friends return to Hogwarts for their 6th Year, and so unexpected changes have happened over the summer, Prof. Severus Snape (Alan Rickman) is no longer Potions Master but instead Professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts, and a new, curious yet pompous teacher was joined the staff, Professor Horace Slughorn (Jim Broadbent). Slughorn is an old collegue of Albus Dumbledore's (Michael Gambon) and was Head of Slytherin House, at the time of Tom Riddle's [Lord Voldemort] (Hero Fiennes-Tiffin) student-years After Harry's failed attempts of Occlumency (Ability to open someone's mind by force), Dumbledore seems certain he needs to tell Harry something about Tom Riddle's Past in hope it will be useful for the future, but what secrets has Dumbledore uncovered about the most evil sorceror ever known?

Book to Film

A Customer from North West UK, 25th February, 2009

people basing this on the book will i fear be very very dissapointed, last time out key plot points were ignored and if rumours are true the story of this film will make the written ending be quite impossible

It's Harry Potter!

What more can you say really? Films still not a patch on the books but 'must sees' all of them anyway. Kind of film that stays in your collection and you get out a year later to watch again. A must if you like the earlier ones though not so amazing as the first couple.

Gone a bit MMMBop!!

Jazza from , 17th March, 2010

Enjoyed all the movies so far, never read the books, but enjoyed movies for what they were, well acted adventures. This had the same actors but the story felt a little stretched and suffered a bit for it - felt like the middle movie in a trilogy. If you, like me, enjoyed the other movies without having read the books you will still enjoy it on the same level. This is the only one to play more like a youth/teeny oriented movie though, the others have had a wider audience appeal. Well acted and shot movie and worth a viewing. Jazza

This Harry Potter film lacks the magic of the others. It seems to have lost the shine and the actors seem bored with doing the samethings for to long

Harry Potter and the half blood prince

I loved this film. This was the best one out of the Harry Potter series so far and I can't wait to see the next one. It was great to see the students of Hogwarts had grown up and the story developed further. I wish I hadn't returned the disc as would have loved to watch it again. Well worth a watch - loved it!!
