Based on the second novel in C.S. Lewis's beloved CHRONICLES OF NARNIA series, PRINCE CASPIAN finds the four Pevensie children--Peter (William Moseley), Susan (Anna Popplewell), Edmund (Skandar Keynes), and Lucy (Georgie Henley)--once again whisked away from WWII-era England into the realm of Narnia, where the siblings once ruled as royalty. However, the Pevensies soon discover that 1,300 years have passed since they left, and the world is now controlled by the Telmarines, humans who long ago banished the magical creatures of Narnia to the wilderness. When the heir to the Telmarine throne, Caspian (Ben Barnes), survives an assassination attempt plotted by his scheming uncle, Miraz (Sergio Castellitto), the noble youth stumbles across Narnia's exiled enchanted population, and decides to lead them in an uprising, aided by Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy.

Considerably darker and more action-packed than THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, this 2008 sequel, once again directed by Andrew Adamson, is driven by the struggle between the Telmarines and the banished Narnians, resulting in many fierce battle sequences. While the newcomer Barnes and the established quartet of Moseley, Popplewell, Keynes, and Henley are all in fine form, CASPIAN is largely enhanced by its supporting cast, which includes indie mainstay Peter Dinklage as the dour dwarf Trumpkin and revered comedian Eddie Izzard as the voice of the swashbuckling mouse Reepicheep. Also briefly reprising their roles from the previous film are Liam Neeson, as the voice of Aslan, and Tilda Swinton, as the White Witch, actors who bring their familiar personas to this engaging and entertaining second chapter in the NARNIA saga.

Nothing there

nutcase from , 28th June, 2008

Beware reading a plot outline before you see this - that's all there is. There's no subplot, no character development, no subtlety, no twists. It just is what it is, and takes its time about it. One might even think it was designed for children.

Too bad this is really for children

Picktokyo from from London, England, 3rd July, 2008

Well the reviews praise it, but I think it is nowhere good. The movie is a bit slow paced, and plain boring because you know what gonna happen, I believe this movie is only for children (no twist, no bloodlust killings, only showing kids). If you like Lord of the Rings, avoid this movie.

Better than the first

A Customer from Oldham, 14th June, 2008

I saw this film with my nephew a few weeks ago in Toronto before it was released in this UK. I must admit that I was not that impressed with the first film and my nephew thought the same but we both thought this film was a lot better visually (the superior to the UK cinema screen in Toronto could have contributed to this). The storyline and the way the film flowed also didn't seem as babish as the first one and was definately a much more grown up film, especially for a 10 year old boy who thought the first film was a bit girly.

Brilliant

Charley from , 27th June, 2008

This is a brilliant film, I would highly recommend going to see this and renting it again. You would be able to follow the story if you hadn't read or seen the 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' although I would probably recommend seeing The Lion first and then watching this. The graphic's are better, acting is better and all in all it is a much better film, but I loved the first one as it took me back to me child hood, go see this at the cinema it is well worth the experience. I went watch this at my local theatre on opening night and the cinema was pretty much empty which made the whole experience even better.

Good fun

Whipster from from Shropshire, 17th March, 2010

Superior to the first outing. A good family film with nothing to really dislike. The children in the main roles make a better job of their acting in this instalment. CGI content pretty convincing. Some nicely rounded creatures with plenty of fun along the way. 3.5 stars.

Excellent

A Customer from Southampton, England, 2nd March, 2010

The long awaited sequel to The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe didn't disappoint. It's many many years since I read the books, but the story line for this film, with one or two minor changes was everything I had expected, and remembered from the books. The battle sequences were fantastically portrayed, and the creature effects every bit as good as the original. Liam Neeson is most convincing as the voice of Aslan, and Tilda Swinton makes an excellent Snow Queen, even though she is only briefly in the sequel. The next film cannot ome quickly enough, and if it is as good as this and the first film, may well start to rival LOTR.
