Radio Times

Remember Molly Ringwald — the girl who never quite made it? This is one of her increasingly desperate attempts to reverse the inexorable slide, but Ringwald can act and here she makes a game fist of playing a rebellious teenager who meets an upmarket designer boy. Ringwald, all flaming red hair and grungy attire, gives a touch of charisma to this well-worn theme, and she receives sterling support from Harry Dean Stanton as her feckless, deadbeat dad. This frenetic, hard-edged film belts along pleasingly enough, but, sadly for Ringwald, it's too hackneyed to effectively hit the mark.

I have seen this movie a few times before renting it out again this time around. You can tell I really love it as I have taken some time to return it!. Basically the film is about rich guy and not so well off girl falling in love.Their eyes meet in a record store where she works. They date, she is embarressedabout where she comes from, which leads to his rich friends giving them a hard time. I fell for the guy - Blaine, instantly. Rent this you will not be disappointed. Great story of love, best friendship and father daughter relationship. Good Winter afternoon viewing!.

The film holds its own - even if the clothes & hairdos haven't stood the test of time. Worth a watch every so often.
