It always rankles when fancy pants continentals snootily look down on British cinema as somehow inherently inferior. Particularly disregarded seems to be British post war cinema. When in fact this country turned out some great films, often low budget, but still extremely entertaining. And many exciting thrillers. Unfortunately, this isn't one of them... All opportunities for suspense are squandered to plot absurdities and unconvincing characterisations. But The Hidden Room/Obsession, They Made Me a Fugitive or Noose, now you're talking.
