different angle on WW2

Baranfuiniel from , 29th May, 2009

This is a very interesting film as it offers an unusual take on WW2 and what happened to the Jews. I had only vaguely heard of Project Europa, and the nail-biting flight of the 'Aryan Couple' is truly terrifying. Hard to imagine what people must have gone through. Great acting from a really impressive cast, nice to see all the Nazis being played by British actors...! Absorbing and fascinating. Shame it didn't have a wider release. Watch this if you think you've seen every possible story about the War.

Powerful

The plot may not be that complex, but the facts and the setting of this movie (Hungary 1944) cannot help but keep your attention and leave you questioning human nature. If you are into ww2 watch it. Roughly based on a true story apparently.

The Aryan Couple

polwie from , 2nd February, 2010

We like this film. The film is about Himmler's 'negotiations' with a Jewish aristocrat: the Krauzenbergs' fortune given free to Himmler for freedom and, in the backround, a drama of the titled 'perfect Aryan:' couple: Ingrid and Hans Vassman, who also want to save their lives. However, we consider this film as the picture of three kinds of Nazis near the end of the war: 1) Himmler - shown like Neron-the Lord of life and death with his entourage 2) fanatics - an extream way of giving their support to Nazis' ideas 3) ordinary soldiers (guard-Gerhard) - without knowledge what has happend around them. The film is the effect of Polish-British Cooperation.Zamoyski Palace, near Lublin, Poland is used for the Krauzenbergs' Hungarian Palace and it seems to be a fantastic choice. The film is worth watching to compare different kinds of situations and actions on all sides of the war. Definitely recommend.

Unexpected Treat

FrankIV from , 25th January, 2010

Martin Landau and Judy Parfitt lead an interesting British cast in this heartfelt and quite affecting account. It's well filmed, the locations are good and it gripped me throughout. Not bad considering I'd never heard of it and found it by accident while browsing the site. Recommended.
