Developers: RETRO STUDIOS
Genres: Adventure | Shooter
Released: October 26, 2007

The Galactic Federation's Base Sector Zero is under attack by Space Pirates. Samus must boot up the generator to restore the defense systems. But at the end of her path, someone awful is waiting for her.

The war initiated by Dark Samus and the Space Pirates rages across many planets as they attempt to corrupt each with Phazon seeds. Players use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to explore alien landscapes, hunt for weapons and information, and destroy the seeds. Saving the planets from Corruption isn't enough, though. Eventually, players must take down Samus' mortal enemy, Dark Samus.

Besides using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers to pull off amazing feats like aiming and blasting in midair or at a full run, players also will have an array of different weapons at their disposal. In true Metroid fashion, these will become powered up as the game progresses. Not only that, but the controller will be used for a number of other game elements beyond the traditional firstperson shooter standards.

This game looks ok, it starts a little like halo and i must say for me thats as good as it got. the graphics are not on a par with halo 1 they game play is poor, with the controls not responding as you would expect or like. It also takes to long to get stuck into the action. Ididn't like it because i feel more can be done with the wii, and the developers should have made it more playable before releasing.

Overall, very good game

James Chapman from Essex, UK, 29th October, 2007

I wasn't sure what to expect from this game, as:- 1. I haven't played any other first person shooters on the wii yet - so i dont know how good they are to control etc. 2. I haven't played any of the other Metroid Prime games. However, I think it is a wicked game thats great fun. Controls take a bit of getting used to but after a while they fit really well. The gameplay is excellent, haven't found any bugs or any aspects which need a negative comment. Not sure how long it is as I'm still playing my way through it but according to my save, im about 10% of the way through after about 3 hours or so - been playing at a relaxed pace. I recommend this game, even if you haven't played any of the other Metroid Prime games, as it easy to pick up, but still good fun.

metroid prime 3

A Customer from Liverpool, 6th August, 2009

Its not the best game...but it is very good. It takes a lot of time to complete, i didn't complete it so that explains how long it takes. I would say it takes a month to complete with walk-through. The graphics, best Ive seen for the wii i think but the characters are not human so the graphics have an advantage to games like call of duty. If you want a shooting game then get call of duty 5 for wii, if you've got an xbox or ps3 then get it for one of them

Identity crisis - and too much recycling

Habal from , 10th May, 2009

I have never played a Metroid game prior to this, but from friends who have played prior entries I have gotten some idea of what the games tend to involve. Thus, I expected backtracking. The developers obviously thought they did a good job making some of the environments because they will make you see the same rooms AGAIN and AGAIN. At first, it's bearable, but by the time you get the message 'The item you are looking for may be on a planet you have previously visited!' you'll wanna chuck something out of the window. This recycling even extends to cutscenes. Also, I do not know if it's an issue the copy I recieved or just generally, but the loading times are frequent (occasionally when you try to move between two rooms quickly) and irritating. Also, I can't escape from the feeling that this is just.. Zelda in first person in the future, it's not really very original in it's main gameplay. But, the game plays well, the controls are fluid and well done apart from some thrusting and pulling motions, and combat is entertaining enough. Provided you can withstand backtracking if you take the game in small doses that is bearable too. But, if you're looking for a FPS, this isn't for you. If you're looking for a fair challenge to keep you occupied for a short time, then this is definitely worth a rent.
