Better on HD

I always liked this film. The concept of a waterworld, while scary, is very interesting. Yes its far fetched, but what sci-fi film isn't? This film is visually stunning, even more so in High-Def. The acting is good enough for a film of this sort, even the over the top performance of Dennis Hopper seems to fit! It contains a few silly ideas tho - Jeanne Tripplehorn's character (Helen) decending to the depths in a man made air bubble and not suffering any ill effects, or the Smokers using oars to propel a sea going oil tanker, for example. On the whole tho it is well concieved and produced. I particularly like the idea of the Atols (floating comunities) and the jet ski action is impressive. I have not included a spolier of any sort in this small review (coz I don't like to spoil the fun for others) so if you haven't seen this film (or haven't seen it for a while) watch it!
