Endearing comic book film

A Customer from Southampton, England, 5th November, 2007

Though this film was the cause of the death of Brandon Lee it is excellently made and has all the hallmarks of martial arts and gunslinging. There are a few extras on the disc and one called deleted scenes is a sort of montage of the humour of Brandon Lee on set. All in all a good watch. But not for the faint of heart.

dark and amazing.

keithflavell from from Neath, 29th May, 2008

when i new this was comming out on blu ray i had to have it.the crow (eric draven) i.e brandon lee comes back from the dead to avenge his and his girlfriends murder. this movie is one of my favorites, but on blu ray it shines like never before. the darkness of this move is astounding.the blu ray version is so clear, and the sound so real it will blow you away. i wonder if the crows make up was the insperation behind heath ledgers joker in the up and comming dark knight...they look almost identical. if you want a great movie get the crow on blu ray...believe me you wont be dissapointed.

Excellent

This has to be one of my all time faves. It's a tale of romance! - played out as a gothic horror/revenge movie. I love the clear cut right and wrong in it - the black and white justice. There are no mitigating circumstances to consider in this world. Eric Draven is brutally murdered along with this girlfriend the night before Halloween. The perpatrators are free to brutalize the city as they see fit. A year later however, Draven is risen from the grave and accompanied and assisted by a mysterious crow. This film is black in it's tone and visuals which look awesome on bluray. The soundtrack is ful of grungy nineties rock and fits the story exactly. Some great performances from Michael Wincott and Ernie Hudson. The guy who plays the seedy pawn shop owner was also good. Some other performances can be a touch wooden. Brandon Lee is no Laurence Olivier but his passion and belief in the story carry him through. Great quotable dialouge throughout. 'what happened to you and your girlfriend.... I cleared that building, hell nothing happens in this town without my say so. So I'm sorry if I spoiled you wedding plans there friend.... but if it's any consolation to ya.... you have put a smile on my face.....' Classic

The Crow SE Blu Ray

A Customer from Perth, 4th February, 2009

Regarding the quality of the transfer on this disc, I think it's only fair to remind people that most movies in the last 50 odd years were recorded on to film, which has a much higher resolution than current HD standards. 1080P only relates the transfer we can buy to take home, which is much better than DVD. What I'm trying to say is that any decent film can be put on Blu Ray at very high quality 1080P, and it would only be budget restricted films where a poor source would be to blame. That being said, putting The Crow out at 1080i instead of 1080P means that the TV has to work better to recreate the true 1080P image- it is still proper high definition. The point where the transfer does fall down is the 1080i50 encode, which will be displayed at 1080p25- 4% faster than at the cinema (the same problem with all our DVD movies in the UK for years). Most current Blu-Rays can be shown at 24Hz (or 24fps), same as the cinema. You'd only notice if you have a musical ear as it is ever so slightly higher pitched :) Anyway, the film is a dark, Gothic, revenge/love story. Decent acting, good action sequences, and an enjoyable story. Compared to the sequels it is a masterpiece. I thoroughly enjoyed The Crow, and I'll probably watch it again at Hallowe'en!

Brandon's icon... THE CROW...

Tommygunn from from Glasgow, 22nd January, 2009

What else can i say that Jac hasnt.... nothing really. I have a biased opinion as i have always followed the Lee's and for all true fans this was heartbreaking to know he died in this dark movie. All that aside amazing film, different from anything else out there, gripping story also the soundtrack's for the movie are amazing.....give it a go if you fancy a good story with action... 'It cant rain all the time....' 31/03/93 13:03 R.I.P Brandon Lee

Considering its age!

A Customer from Brighton, 9th January, 2009

Not bad for a film that is now 15 years old. Don't expect CGI effects, story line not brilliant but was probably first of its kind in the re-born zombie vigilante genre. If there ever was such a thing. Good mid-week romp.

A Customer from bayswater, 8th October, 2008
