The rising star of Gabriele Mucinno

Leonard from , 26th January, 2008

I came across this director by watching his latest movie (and his first Hollywood piece) the Pursuit of happiness. It is an amazing film that combines the better side of both American and European cinema. Since then, I was very keen on seeing some other film of Gabriele Mucinno. After viewing ‘Remember me’, there’s no doubt for me about the outstanding qualities of this filmmaker. Both of the films prove Mucinno's incredible directorial strengths, his unique vision and talent. As a result, his work is a beautiful fusion of everything that is important about a good film: a truthful story, striking images, breathtaking flow of ‘real’ action, natural and passionate acting, good timing and sense of humour, and most importantly – mature emotions. ‘Remember me’ treats a very contemporary topic: the two different perspectives on values in life – the early moments of middle age and the teenage period in the urban environment. It is an original film full of intuitive wisdom. Above all, it is very intriguing and entertaining.

I forgot that I had already watched this movie at cinema, and I watched it again. It is about relations, being human, man and woman. Worth watching, very realistic.. Recommended.

not one for boys family drama

A Customer from London, 2nd November, 2007

a slightly disfunctional marriage with all parties having lost their confidence and joie de vivre with young adolescents trying to pave their own way. I really enjoyed it - but can be seen as a bit depressing and the lack of communication between the couple is heart breaking. very italian - lovely language

fresh italian little number! agreed with ell1981, you need to be able to read very quickly for this one, but worth it, it goes with the whole feel of the film, moves fast...but i would say it is a little bit too long, could have been cut down by about half an hour or so.

One to remember

Whipster from from Shropshire, 8th March, 2010

Stunning adult drama that is superbly filmed and perfectly cast. Each and every character is totally believable, all of them playing with a delicate touch, and convincing anger, as and when required. The storyline unfolds as a snapshot of an Italian family going through a period of change - children are about to leave home - the wife is questioning herself about her abilities as an actress and a mother - the husband is dissatisfied with his life, maybe going through a mid-life crisis? His old girlfriend reappears and they fall into an affair. It's a minor, but hugely enjoyable, tale simply because of the quality of all of it's components. There isn't anything to fault. Excellent 4.5 stars. Italian. Subtitled. Gabrielle Muccino isn't a director I'm familiar with but I'll definitely be looking up his other work.
