Emotionally charged, stunningly beautiful and delivering unprecedented dramatic character performance, Heavenly Sword showcases the power of Playstation 3. A dramatic tale of revenge sees Nariko, a fiery red-haired heroine embark on a quest for vengeance against an invading King and his army. The story builds around the ancient Heavenly Sword which once belonged to a powerful deity. It can never be wielded by a mortal without it draining their life-force, killing them within hours. When the invading King (played by Andy Serkis) destroys the warrior clan that guards the Heavenly Sword, the clan leader's daughter, Nariko, takes up the sword in a desperate fight for survival. Nariko must now pay the ultimate price as she embarks on one last mission of vengeance against the King and his army before her life is finally drawn to a close...

Heavenly Sword

Very disappointing nothing but eye candy. If this is the type rubbish the PS3 puts out then no wonder the PS3 is struggling to sell. A game needs more than graphics to make it good. At least I have not wasted £30+ on less than 3 hours of gaming which it took to complete. Graphics 10/10 Gameplay 3/10 Replay Value 1/10 Story 4/10 satisfaction 1/10 Overall 2/10

PS3 has stepped up

Kopite33 from from Bristol, 14th September, 2007

The Playstation 3 is finally proving it's better than the rest with this stunning new game. The graphics are like nothing I have ever seen before - simply amazing. The storyline is great and was written by Hollywood scriptwriters! Gameplay is great and has three styles of attack: range, power and speed. It involves using a mixture of these attack styles to beat hundreds (yes, hundreds!) of enemys at a time. Sixaxis is also used in the game to control 'aftertouch' which involves steering thrown items (knives, axes, people and the highly powerful blast cannon) using the controller. Many people have compared it to God of War, which, despite being a great game, comes nothing near to Heavenly Sword. The soundtrack is also quite good.

Heavingly Rubbish

DukeDudeston from , 19th February, 2010

What was I thinking? I read other reviews about this game, however I like to keep an open mind. However, I am with the mob with this one... The graphics are amazing, it blew me away with the visuals, and even the lip syncing was especially nice.. however this is all this game seems to have. The game requires it to install 3GB onto your hard drive.. urm.. sorry but what? 25GB Blu-ray not enough for it? It needs to install data to the hard drive? The thing that makes this game rubbish. is the controls.. now this claims to be; Adventure, Fighting, Role-playing. However, I believe that only 1 of the 3 are right.. it is a fighting game, I got bored on the first chapter, I was expecting a lot more.. then. smashing the square button, then the triangle button now and then.. which is what you be doing a lot of. (just look at the combo move list, after you watch the first scene - which you button bash your heart out on) Secondly it feels as if the character is seperate to your controller, you press the X button.. then a few seconds later, they respond by walking down the ladder, now most gamers expect the right anolog stick to control the camera by default... no.. the 'Six Axis' tilt controls the camera, which in my hands felt wrong. If you want a button bashing game, with great graphics by all means rent / buy it.. if you want a game with more depth and strategic feel to it.. look elsewhere.

A good rental

Ozor from , 9th January, 2010

This game is a good rental, it is incredibly short so there isn't much reason to buy it, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't rent it. If you enjoy this genre you will be sure to enjoy this.

Quality Game if you like the button bashing kick ace games .. There are some breaks in game play were you find your self being prompted for exact combos to perform acrobatics which are quite refreshing after constant dodging and button pushhing. Fantastic cinematics and the story line is intense , nearly had a little cry :) lol ... The art work is Amazing , I loved alll the special features aswell as howit was made :) Oh and the Lead character is a very powerful intense Warrior .. very hot LOL
