BioShock is a revolution in the shooter genre that will forever change the expectations for the FPS. Going beyond "run and gun corridors," "monster-closet AIs" and static worlds, BioShock creates a living, unique and unpredictable FPS experience. BioShock is the Shooter 2.0.

After your plane crashes into icy uncharted waters, you discover a rusted bathysphere and descend into Rapture, a city hidden beneath the sea. Constructed as an idealistic society for a hand picked group of scientists, artists and industrialists, the idealism is no more. Now the city is littered with corpses, wildly powerful guardians roam the corridors as little girls loot the dead, and genetically mutated citizens ambush you at every turn.

sheeps go 'bleet'

sharpize from from Macmerry, 27th August, 2007

I've only played the demo myself but a friend of mine who has the game concurs... 10/10 xbox mag, 95% pc mag, 5 out of 5 - reviewers on this site. What's so good about it? Well, it is very very pretty. I spent a good long while just swimming in the intro bit just looking at the water and the flames and watching the plane go down. But ofcourse, one has to get on with the game and that's where it all started going wrong. You see, this is what happens when a games dev sets up a team dedicated to making water look good and sets up nothing for a story. Because there isn't one. You don't understand what you're doing and you won't know why. Nothing makes sense either. Everyone is killing each other because they've used the drugs so what's the first thing you start doing in the game... you guessed it, you start injecting. There is no interaction with scenery, no dialogue, no path options. You basically follow a set route of death and destruction from point A (the beginning) to point B (the end). Its Half Life, 60 years ago, underwater, except in Half Life you could atleast explore. So what's new. Well nothing, except how you kill. Everything I wanted from this game is missing, including online play. This game will be flooding the 'preowned' bins in weeks, if not earlier. The check box after this comment is a joke 'Contains spoiler?'. It doesn't even have a point, let alone a story... let alone a surprise ending.

"Oh No"

John Turton from Sheffield, 6th September, 2007

Oh No....... another FPS (first person shooter) only, well this one ain't half bad, well for the graphics anyway. It trys to be something its not (A Good Game) fair enough the graphics are outstanding and the water effects are second to none but game play-wise its just another FPS trying to set its self apart from the rest but only it doesn't. You get the jist from the other reviews of what its about so i wont bore you with the same old same old. So my advice is if you want a really good FPS go for Rainbow Six Vegas the thought and planning you have to do as a gamer in that far out weighs this rubbish and if your in to online gaming Rainbow Six will give you many many many sleepless night's 'seriously im supprised my wife ain't left me because of that thing'.

Wish I had more time!

Sherelle from , 6th January, 2010

I love this game, love the whole idea of it and can not wait until Bioshock 2...the only thing is I haven't had enough time to get through it! This game has twists and turns and can scare the pants off you. You can make your own decisions and the graphics are immense. I recommend this game to anyone and everyone (as long as they have time to keep working the way through it) and I'll be renting it again soon so I can complete the darn thing! :)
