Based on the Aramoana Massacre that occurred on 13 November and 14 November 1990. Resident David Gray, an unemployed gun collector, went on a rampage in which 13 people were shot dead, before Gray himself was shot by police.

a sad event, but why make a film about it ????

A very slow moving story, i have no doubt that when this actually happened in 1990 it must have been devestating.... putting that aside though as a film it just didnt work. we turned it off quite quickly but i had to find out what happened at the end. Very dissapointing.

A tragic true story

How this film can be classed as slow is beyond me, this film was well put together, it let you get to know the victims in this tragic true story, and also the events that led up to it. please dont let the other review put you off this film.

I definitely wouldn't recommend this movie...I kept on hoping it would improve, but it didn't! Very slow moving and boring! :-(

A chilling well directed film!

This film was unexpected. It was an excellent example of what one crazed man did in New Zealand without Hollywooding or glorifying what he did. I had not heard if this incident until i watched this film but it was a very gripping film with no certain ending (unless you had heard of this story before) In short a very well made representation of events during a very dark time in New Zealand. Well worth a watch for a serious night.
boring

the film starts ok and you get to know some of the characters and start to care about them. The main problem is that it doesn't explain the why of the Out of the Blue title or what happened next. So it was a very unsatisfactory film, you feel you have wasted an evening watching this...would not reccommend it.

The cast its so believable you feel like you are there part of the action. rather than a glorified slaughterfest I think this film leaves you asking how much is being done for those with obvious mental health issues in our communities before it gets too severe
