Stolen by the devious special agent Combat 21, the glove confers upon its owner unimaginable power. After hiding out for over two decades, Combat 21 has come back, calling himself the "God of Fists" and ready to rule the world. Humanity's only hope lies in the fighters who gather to take on this powerful foe.

A Special FX fest

A Customer from York, England, 9th March, 2004

It's nice to see a film with a newer plot idea other than the usual 'you killed my friends/family, now i must learn to fight to get vengance' type films.
The setting is the future, when scientists have been working to use the 'no access zone' in the brain (generally we only use 10% of the brain while the rest lies dormant - this is the no acces zone). Using this makes you faster and stronger....
I won't go into the whole plot here. Be warned though: although there are a few fairly good fights, there is relatively little classic hand to hand combat as a lot of the fights descend into special effects like chucking fireball type things at each other etc.
It's not a bad film, but if you want classic hand to hand extensive fight scenes then this isn't for you. If you like fx driven films though, then you'll love it. It's worth renting, but probably not buying as you probably won't want to watch it again and again

Lots of style, no substance.

A Customer from Bristol, England, 8th December, 2003

Avenging Fist is one of a new breed of Hong Kong action movies (along with Stormriders and Return to Zu Mountain) that pride special effects over everything else. Admittedly, the effects are stunning though if you have no idea what's happening (or just happened) in the film, then it becomes something akin to a great light show.
The DVD features a decent hour long making-of along with the usual biogs and trailers.

KUNG-FUTURISTIC MASTERPIECE!!

Sammo Silvertits from Neo-Mongkok2099, 11th February, 2007

This is one of the best and most Cinematic FX Fantasy Films that I've seen in the past few years, Better than any of that American-Yank Crap (X-Men Fantastic-4 Spiderman etc) This is just another example of how Hong-Kong film makers can make a top grade movie (better than smelly American & Brit dross) on a much smaller budget. This film is worth watching just for Sammo's silver Inspector Gadget hat alone! And Yuen Biao's silver mask that even has his moles and acne in the form of rivets! Stevie Fung and Ekin just add to the all star cast. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Wazzes on all USA action Sci-fi of recent years!

It was absolutely dreadful

A Customer from London, England, 18th August, 2004

This film is absolutely boring and pointless with a waste of talent from actors such as Yuen Biao and Sammo Hung. The script is absolutely boring, fight scenes are the worse and special effects are no better.

It feels like elements are stolen from other films such as X-men (Kristy Yang's character), Matrix Revolutions (fight between Lee-Hom Wang and Roy Cheung).

My advice, do not watch it. It will be a waste of time!!

Psycho Crusher!

JulianCAO from , 20th December, 2009

A futuristic martial arts film 'loosely based on Tekken', features M. Bison in full psycho power mode, shows someone kicking a lightning bolt into the sky. It had some.. 'interesting' visuals but was let down by messay editing and a number of confusing sequences.

Not like Tekken at all

nealmc from , 20th June, 2009

'Loosely based on Tekken' - equates to two hairstyles being somewhat similar. I was hoping for a Mortal Kombat (the films) style Martial Arts tournament - which shows I didn't set my expectations too high. Despite a pretty solid crew and cast, this is woeful. The fights such as they are devolve into Streetfighter style combo power up / fx heavy blurs - nothing remotely similar to the Tekken style combat system. I need to watch Enter the Dragon now to rinse the stink away. Terrible.
