Nice movie, like a slow song in a shady café,

crockery from from Belfast, 6th April, 2008

The film is all about mood. If you are not in it, you will not like the movie. My recommendation is to watch it at night, in bed, with no worries on your mind or things to do. It is not something really great, but it soothes the soul like one of those old road books. The story itself is more of a three parter, each section detailing a mindset and the situations that define it. You see the hopeless romantic, the one person who let the other inside instead of just sticking to the outside, and for whom losing the other is worst than death; then there is the rebellious daughter that loves and hates her father until it's to late to do anything either way; and of course, the story of Nora Joneses and Jude Law's characters. Bottom line: lay comfy in your bed and listen to the slow rhythms of the music while digesting the human nature presented in the film. In the end it is worth watching.

melancholy road movie

chungking from from London, 23rd February, 2008

Okay, so it’s not Wong Kar-Wei’s best film. The main ingredients of lovelorn characters, gorgeous photography and a bucket full of melancholy are all there but there’s an inner sprit missing. It’s not just because he’s shot a film outside of China or Hong Kong, ‘Happy Together’ was made in Argentina and still managed to capture everything great about Wong kar-Wei, the problem is the two leads, who are for the most part, dull. All the support acts, David Strathairn, Natalie Portman and Rachel Weisz are great and their storylines and acting are much more engaging than the two leads. But as Jude Law and Norah Jones are the main thread that links the film together, there’s a feeling of irritation throughout. Still this could be seen as picking. For a lot of film-makers this would be a very good film, but Wong kar-Wei has set a very high standard for himself.

Dreadful

Camel from from London, 5th October, 2008

The trailer looked good for this but the film is truly awful, turned off after half an hour. Pretentious, slow moving drivel with characters that inspire nothing whatsoever. May have something to do with the dreadful Jude Law and drippy Norah Jones..

Nicer than Blueberry Pie

markstar from , 10th February, 2008

Singer-turned -actress Norah Jones plays jilted Elizabeth who takes a trip across America to find herself, beginning and ending with Jude Law (and blueberry pie). In-between, she encounters Racel Weisz and David Strathairn suffering a bitter divorce, and Natalie Portman gambling her life away. Visually stunning, full of nice moments, but not perfect.

I should have looked more closely at the reviews.... after 15 minutes I'd lost the will to live!

Quite slow, but sweet......

A Customer from Barnet, 1st February, 2010

......I was quite excited about this film, but yes as mentioned by a couple of other people, it is slow. Jude Law has quite a strange accent in it, but Norah Jones is brill! - can we see her in something else please...great to finally see a singer who can act as well.... Rachel Weisz and Natalie Portman both a bit irritating in this one, but worth a look if you are a Norah Jones fan....

Worst film I've seen in a long time.

jockster from , 28th January, 2010

Jones should stick to the thing she does best,ie singing. Why Law took this on I do not know, he couldn't have read the script. Poor story line and so slow it almost stopped. I just cannot find anything good to say about the film. I don't normally write reviews but if this prevents someone from watching this film I feel I have done them a favour.

My Blueberry Nights

Pretty dull for such a talented group assembled to create this film. Top notch director and cast create a sleep through disjointed film that in my view doesn't entertain.
