A forensic psychologist, Sally Rowe, is appointed by police to determine whether there's enough evidence to lay murder charges against 17 year old Alex, accused in the shotgun death of his school mate Nigel. With no tangible evidence, the detective on the case is under pressure from Alex's influential father to have the charges dropped. Delving deeply into Alex and Nigel's bizarre symbiotic pact, Rowe discovers that though dead, Nigel's psychological effect on Alex is far from diminished.

Good Entertainment

Laura Wilson from Newcastle, 15th August, 2007

This was an enjoyable film and very well acted on all counts. The narrative was sufficient to keep you interested, plus a good dose of suspense although perhaps a little slow during the second half. My only reservation is that the ending is predictable and badly explained. However, the ride that gets you there is sufficient reason to watch it. If I don't sound too excited it's because I'm not; but if you're looking for a good evening filler then this is a sound choice.

THE worst film I have ever seen! Acting is wooden, storyline is rubbish - don't even waste your time!

Fascinating dark and twisted thriller.

A Customer from London, 17th March, 2008

This is the best thriller I have seen in a long time: not so much because of the plot ( more a whydunnit than a whodunnit), but because of the atmosphere created and the emotional and intellectual journey it takes you through. The action is set in a boarding school, and it is both an oppressive and evocative location, the surrounding nature gives a solemn beauty to even the grimmest actions. The cast is brilliant: Toni Collette is fascinating as always:you can see every nuance of the emotional palette on her face, the young protagonists are charismatic and believably disturbed and smart, with no touch of egotistical mugging or ' make me a Hollywood star' acting. The interesting way the plot unfolds makes the audience guess what sort of thing is about to happen without giving it a reason for its happening. Even when all the clues seem to have been given, the mystery deepens as to the motivation of the perpetrator. I wish this movie had been longer or that there would be a sequel.

Very Believable

Split personality demonstration very well acted. The only lack of reality is that only one person decided innocence or guilt which is not the way in which the system is supposed to work.

Darkly Quiet

A Customer from London, 2nd December, 2009

I disagree with those that thought this film was worthless...its more likely its just not the kind of script that appeals to them. Its a darkly quiet film...and it reminded me in pace of Donna Tartt's first book The Secret History; in that the accumulation of higher knowledge brings with it a dangerous arrogance, and sense of overwhelming superiority. It most definitely is very well acted, but with an immense amount of reserve, that those brought up on Hollywood fodder will not be used to. It is also beautifully shot, and designed. The plot is easy to follow as long as you are concentrating, and I would've welcomed a bit more of detail concerning the psychologist's point of view, and possible diagnosis of the boys condition - though not in a way that answers all the questions.. Part of the subtle beauty of this piece was its ambiguity. I also love the nod to Seven at the end. A great film to get into by yourself on a quiet night....a bit of Dead Poet's Society...a dash of Beautiful Creatures.....

A little gem, Toni Collette and the lead male (forgot name!) put in great performances. Well worth a watch.
