An extension of both the film and book versions of STARSHIP TROOPERS, this brilliantly rendered CGI series follows the adventures of new Space Marine recruit Johnny Rico, a member of an elite killing squadron known as Razak's Roughnecks. The Roughnecks are holding the line against a spacefaring alien-insect menace intent on destroying Earth. In this episode, the Roughnecks land on the acquatic planet Hydora, only to find themselves trapped in a cave and fending off giant mosquitoes and coming face-to-face with the terrifying Mother insect!

This is really Vol. 2, not Vol. 3.

Phil from Saffron Walden, England, 1st October, 2004

If you like the others, you'll like this. It's similiar to the original film in feel, but computer animated, with massively reduced violence/gore levels and most of the political commentary missing. Otherwise, it's a fun, if predictable action movie. Because it's a number of short stories spliced into a single movie, the plot is a little jumpy, but it still works quite well.

The biggest problem with this disc, is that the distributors completely screwed up the title. This is really volume 2, not volume 3. Also volumne 4 should be volume 3 and volume 2 should be volume 4. So because I watched volume 2, The Tesca Campaign, before this I had a good idea what's going to happen and the spoilers in volume 2 for volume 4 are even worse. As I said earlier, the plot's a little predictable, but this makes things much worse. So if you're going to watch all these DVDs, watch them in the order 1,3,4,2,5 and 6.

Pretty Good

A Customer from UK, 17th May, 2005

I love SST but get the feelingg they are exhausting the formula of bringing out a new bug to make the going harder.. other than that is was pretty good... Most irritating big is how the troopers get into a pcikle and then the bugs decide to give them a break!!

Not as good as original

Peter McConnell from England, 25th April, 2005

Not as good as original by a long way. It lacked many of the features which made the 1st such a classic sci-fi film.
