Time Out

So far the Die Hard series has offered scenes of civil aviation hijack, skyscraper attack (with falling bodies)...

You'll come out Bruced and battered and the better for it...

PaulaWestwood from , 7th July, 2007

For an action movie to stand the test of time it has to have something watchable in it, and after enjoying 1,2 and 3 in quick sucession before viewing this, we were not dissapointed with the previous encounters, or ineed this one. Bang up to date, our one man army McClane is in the thick of it once again by being in the wrong (or right) place at the wrong (or right) time. Its an all action gamble of a movie that takes all the right turns and does everything you would want it to. The whole collection of these are deserved cinema hits, and this is no exception, a must watch for any action fans, in fact any fans of the big screen.

Disappointing

strange6 from , 12th November, 2007

Much the weaker film of the whole series. Some fine stunts can't make up for a very weak plot. Disappointing.

Perhaps the best ever sequel ever.

A Customer from London, 5th July, 2007

Len Wiseman has done something amazing and utterly unexpected. He has made a Die Hard which is not only verging on the credible (unitl about two thirds through) but also pretty frightening. By which I mean it's actually quite frightening. Rather than being merely elegantly ruthless, Timothy Olyphant is really scary without once raising his voice. McClane's daughter fails to annoy, McClane's side-kick fails to be deadweight (in fact they're both pretty endearing), and perrennial 'hey it's that guy' guy Cliff Curtis is as solid as ever. The camera work and colour pallette are interesting and very different without being overly showy, and the music never over-powers the plot of the action. It's definitely the best so far this year on the action stakes - although the trailer for Bourne looked better on fight choreograhy.

Sigh Hard

citizenk from , 2nd November, 2007

The varying success of the three previous films in this franchise, was largley based on certain factors. Those factors being -Bruce Willis's charm as he despatched bad guys with extreme prejudice,a script peppered with the 'F' word and the 'M F' word, the brilliant one liners, a ludicrous plot, amazing stunts and a sky high bodycount What the makers of this latest film have done in the name of putting younger(ie more) bums on seats is remove all the above elements that made the Die Hard brand stand out from other generic maverick cop sagas. The very things that made it so successful in the first place. The result is by far the weakest of the four films, the violence has been toned down to such a degree that you might think you're watching the 'A Team' . Villians are blown up,shot, thrown from buildings and helicopters etc, only to be shown seconds later walking away from the wreckage. The only thing that kept me watching was Willis himself which sadly,in the end wasn't enough to get this film more than two stars. So,not the worse action flick of the summer but certainly one that didn't need making.

If you love Bruce, you'll love it!

A Customer from London, 10th March, 2010

I am always suspicious of sequels, but I must say after really enjoying n°3 and having watched it many times, I also really like n°4. It has some really good lines! The first few seconds of the movie already stick you to the couch as you want to know what will happen next. The first encounter between John and his daughter is a little disappointed as they are using the same dialogue that was used in Armageddon between Bruce and his daughter. But do not be put off by this! It is nice to see John staying a simple guy, not acting as if he was younger than he is, being lost with technology. The kid acting by his side brings some freshness to the plot and I liked that. Sometimes they are pushing it too much in the dialogues, trying to show how great John is, which is really not necessary; we all know that! I really liked it, would watch it again and definitely recommend to all the Die Hard fans like me!

My third favourite in the Die Hard franchise. Exciting and action-packed, with an enjoyable geekiness to the enemies that appeal to the nerd in me!

Not a good upgrade from 3.0

cwoodhams from from London, 18th February, 2010

Not quite as good and innovative as the previous instalment. Obviously chock full of classic lines and situations. Good film in itself but a bit of a let down for any hard-core fan.
