Simple, complicated, brilliant... !

PaulaWestwood from , 25th March, 2007

This is one of those films that haven't been advertised to the max, so may easily pass under your radar totally unnoticed.. but it shouldn't !!! If it does you will miss a warm, darkly humerous and sentimental journey of loss, then finding out the parts of your partner you never knew and on to rebirth into a new life after the loss. Helped along with a really great soundtrack (Doves, Foo's, Magic Numbers, Gomez etc etc), and some wonderful acting, this is a really really good movie. I would definately recommend giving this one a go.

Sweet & Sad

JakJak from from Bedford, 5th May, 2007

This film made me laugh and cry. Kevin Smith was fantastic, I felt Gray's (Jennifer Garner's) pain and frustration. I ordinarily despise Juliette Lewis in everything I see but I found her performance very engaging. The film deals with the complicated journey or a woman learning about her fiancée after he has died just before the wedding. Gray learns that her fiancée has a son who he has been supporting via the mother (Lewis) Their mutual friends try to keep her strong while she goes through the myriad of emotions dealing with his death and the surprising revelations that come out. Not to mention having to deal with her almost mother-in-law! Grey spends more time with Fitz (Timothy Olyphant) who is was one of fiancées best friends and begins a tentative relationship with him and finds out that Dennis (Sam Jaeger) has always had deep feelings for her too. Garner, as always, is sweet and believable. The cast & story really suck you in, and it’s not the most complicated story ever told….. but it is told well. Remember to have the tissues on stand by!

A Real Chick Flick!

Sarah from Reading, 28th September, 2007

Bit of a 'girly' film, very predictable, a good watch with a few friends, box of chocs and a bottle of wine ... this film isn't gonna change your life but its OK.

Definitely worth a watch...

The Scottish Blonde from Edinburgh, 12th September, 2007

Really loved this, didn't know quite what to expect as hadn't heard any of the hype that other people have commented on, other than I quite like Jennifer & Kevin so thought it would be worth a watch, & I wasn't disappointed. It won't set your world alight but it's a good mid-week film that will take you on a bit on an emotional rollercoaster. It's just a great story about relationships & the effect that you have on each without knowing it. Great choice of cast - they all complimented each other & were very believable - I'll probably buy it as it's the kind of film I could watch again. The soundtrack's fantastic - so much so that I bought it as soon as I'd watched it; Foo Fighters - Razor, The Lemonheads - My Drug Buddy & The Magic Numbers - Mornings Eleven to name but a few... Hope you enjoy this easy to watch film, about the people in your life that you care about, as much as I did.

Surprisingly good

Annelisa from , 7th March, 2010

I wasn't expecting this to be anything but a 'fill in' film...to watch and pass the time. However, the changing relationships (friends as well as loves), and the way the woman comes to accept and move on from the death of her fiance captured me. A lovely, heart-warming film with some funny moments!

This film was slow to start, got a bit enteresting towards the end, on the whole a good story line but hard to stay awake.
