Great story ruined by a poor film

A Customer from OXON, 5th February, 2009

This film should have been so much better. The story was brilliant but unfortunately the director must have been having a bad day because the film doesn't fulfill its potential. As a story, I rate it. But probably best to wait a hollywood re-make

Very good French Film.

A Customer from Portsmouth, UK., 13th August, 2007

This is the story of a young boy (Olivier) who is doted on by his mother but one day goes out on his bicycle to deliver food to his granny (shades of Little Red Riding Hood here) and never comes back. Police investigations lead to nothing but many years later the police find a teenage male prostitute in Paris who they believe to be the boy. He is reunited with his mother who is delighted to have her Oliver back. However, even though the boy knows much that it seems only the real Olivier could know, his sister is not so sure. Directed by Agnieszka Holland (who also did The Secret Garden and the excellent Europa Europa) this is a superbly told and acted story of family tensions. Highly Recommended.
