From the creator of THE DAY TODAY and I'M ALAN PARTRIDGE, THE THICK OF IT is a biting comedy satire set in the world of Westminster politics. The show follows the trials and tribulations of Hugo Abbot, a lowly MP who finds himself continually harassed by the PM's policy enforcer. THE THICK OF IT is an award-winning, and critically acclaimed series that is bolstered by the work of some of Britain's best comedy writers and a fine cast.

Rent this today!

Having been on the inside of politics in the UK, it’s astounding how close this comes to the reality. This truly is the British answer to The West Wing. The only great travesty is that there have only been 6 episodes plus a couple of specials ever made. I can only recommend this for those with a strong stomach for verbal abuse as it is truly and assault on the ears of endless swearing. It’s in a similar style to The Office but altogether darker, more twisted and you’ll cringe at all the characters! The Malcolm Tucker character (played brilliantly by Capaldi) is a tour de force in the “Alistair Campbell” type role. There’s a deep cynicism and rawness at the heart of politics and The Thick of It portrays this superbly. Don’t rent it if you liked “Yes, Minister” :)

FREQUENT USE OF THE "F" WORD CANNOT BE TYPICAL OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE PALACE OF WESTMINISTER AND IF IT IS, NO WONDER PEOPLE ARE "TURNED OFF" POLITICS AND POLITICANS

Disappointed

AMB from , 29th August, 2007

Bit lame, feels dated already. Lacks any subtlety or originality. Oooh, there's a character that's like Alistair Campbell - big deal.

THE BAR HAS BEEN SET

You will find at least one killer line in every five minutes of every episode of what is without question the best British comedy series this decade.... if not the last decade as well. I can't compliment it enough so I'm not going to waste any more of your time gushing about it. Just hit 'add' and look forward to it arriving in the post.

Brilliant

Very powerful comedy. I missed the original TV shows so they are not quite as topical now. But the content is brilliant, the language not for the faint hearted but the finished article is very entertaining

Laugh till you feel really quite ill

No use in trying to explain this, its a cringe worthy double deal-a-thon where everyone is bent as a 9 bob note. More sweary than a drunk Gordon Ramsey.

Brother put me off

SisterKaff from , 20th June, 2009

My brother put me off seeing it, which is pathetic, but I respect his opinion.
He explained that it was childish and that the men were irritating and the only character he liked was the woman, and considering he normally finds women irritating, and men to be rather fine, was saying something.
I'd been hoping for a House of Cards interbred with Yes Minister, which my brother assured me it wasn't.
I leave the default rating as I'm only reporting someone else's views.
