Early Jodie Foster always worth a view

Susan Griffith from Swansea, Wales, 13th August, 2007

I rented this after a search for any films with Jodie Foster in, on the basis that films are almost always worth a view if she's in them. I had missed this one from back in 1987, and true to form it didn't disappoint. Foster's role is minimal and I thought rather underdeveloped, compared to the male roles, especially that of the psychotic rapist. It has a kind of small town America atmosphere, and in some ways the ending is rather predictable, albeit dramatic - but I'm glad I watched it. Nothing groundbreaking, its impact is entirely reliant on the acting and characterization rather than plot or location, so as long as you don't watch thinking it's going to be an action thriller it should please.

PRETTY 'RUN-OF-THE-MILL' TYPE FILM. NOT THE WORST I HAVE SEEN, BUT NOWHERE NEAR THE BEST EITHER!
