In Andy Tennant's (SWEET HOME ALABAMA, ANNA AND THE KING) delightful romantic comedy HITCH, Will Smith stars as Alex Hitchens, an urban 'date doctor' who helps the common man woo the woman of his dreams. Hitch will use any means necessary--dance lessons, back waxing--to instil romantic confidence in his clientele. Hitch was once a lonely wallflower himself, who learned about love and heartbreak the hard way. His latest project, Albert Brennaman (Kevin James), may be his most difficult. Brennaman, a junior accountant prone to clumsiness, has fallen head-over-heels for one of his clients, Allegra Cole (Amber Valleta), a well-known celebrity. To complicate things further, Hitch's dating dogma is shaken when he meets and falls for a beautiful gossip columnist, Sara Melas (Eva Mendes), whose sharp wit easily pierces his cool fa+šade. Conflict arises when Melas uncovers Hitch's true profession and blames him for her best friend being dumped. HITCH is set in affluent hot spots around New York City, making for some splendid visuals. Tennant gets charming performances from all of his leads, especially James, who makes an amazing transition from television's KING OF QUEENS and nearly steals the spotlight from Smith with his talent for physical comedy. Nevertheless, James and Smith have excellent onscreen chemistry. Kevin Bisch's first script is full of clever, contemporary dialogue, alternately pointing out the silliness and the poignancy of love and dating. OK movie. Disappointing High Definition

A Customer from Belfast, 26th April, 2007

Average movie. Disappointing picture quality for a Blu-Ray disc. Rent it if you like the movie rather than for hoping to see brilliant High Definition video.

'so so' romantic movie

A Customer from London, 17th September, 2008

If you like american romantic comedies, than you'll like this. Will Smith plays a smart alec love expert, slightly overdoing the suave thing. He only helps nerds who happen to love beautiful women who wouldnt go for the nerd otherwise. He himself falls for a woman whos hard to get and even his smart love alec ways dont work. The movie starts rotating around Will helping a mega loser in the form of actor Kevin James. Although Kevin James is a fantastic comedy actor, hes just misused in this movie. First of all hes overshadowed by a less funny Will and secondly its clear that Kevin is overdoing it slightly for Hollywood. All in all, for a romcom, Its not bad.

Not as amusing or entertaining as i expected. There was nothing in particular wrong with the film, just there's better rom-coms out there!

Good movie on romance, with useful view points. Entertaining enough for a night in.
