A WITCH HUNT FROM NOT SO LONG AGO

A Customer from London,england, 25th August, 2004

I found this to be a strangely haunting tale that was with me for a long while after. It tells the story of an every day family who get feed into the hysteria and hype of an American legal system in the throws of a moral panic over child satanic abuse.
Falsely accused of horrid and wicked abuse of their own and another family?s children. The parents are imprisoned after the prosecutors gerrymander a case against them.
They inflame opinion until as the couples legal advisor says,
?Not even god could defend these people?.
You realise now just how easy it is be manipulated by emotional appeals to the protective instinct in all parents.
The thing that really worried me though was if all this effort is put in to convicting innocents, who is looking after the interests of vulnerable and at risk children.
Watch this film before getting wound up by the next big tabloid story.

Ask the children.

Once you realise that this is a made for American TV drama, then you can grab the edge of your seat and shout loudly at the bad jobs that the American law people handled this 'True' case. Ok, the acting is Pss Poor and sometimes awful, but with that to one side it was pretty gripping to think that this actually happened and the fact that the couple in question spent 13 years fighting the injustice, inc. 10 years in jail, was what made me keep watching. 4 stars for what it is, a 1 & 1/2 hour TV drama.

I found that this film made me frustrated and I felt very sorry for the poor family who really went through this. To miss out on your 12 years of your children's lives must be heart breaking. I would definitely recommend this film. It truly shows how corrupt the legal system can be and how they will do anything to make themselves look good, including putting innocent people in prison. This film shows how a 'witch hunt' really did go on in the 80's. This isn't a big budget hollywood film by far but it does get to you. By the end of it I felt real emotion for this family. It is shocking to see what this family had to go through amd the reality of what they lost .... 12 years of there children's lives and for what?
