Carl and Molly have found the one unfortunate hitch in their perfectly constructed newly wedded world: Dupree. A slacker with the soul of a poet, Dupree just can't seem to catch a break from The Man. When he takes a week off to go be the best-man at Carl and Molly's wedding in Hawaii, Dupree gets the unceremonious heave-ho from his boss. Now jobless, car-less and evicted from the cot at his favorite watering hole, he just needs to crash with the Petersons for a couple of days; okay, maybe a month or so. At first, Carl is psyched to have the couch guest while Molly bears the brunt of Dupree's well-meaning antics. But, as Carl becomes buried in his grown-up job of land development and headaches, he finds it hard to juggle Dupree and his newlywed responsibilities. As time passes, his and Molly's houseguest uses his ample spare time to become a great companion to her, underscoring Carl's new workaholic tendencies. Even Molly's dad begins to fall for Dupree's carefree wisdom, frustrating Carl to no end. Soon, everyone--but Carl--begins to root for Dupree to stick around. But just as the impish buddy starts becoming a fixture in the Petersons' home, three becomes not just a crowd, but a full-blown comic catastrophe. As the couple realizes their ideas of a white-picket fence marriage are morphing, their loveable pal serves as a daily reminder that finding your inner Dupree might just be one of life's hidden secrets

Silly, silly, silly, but very funny!

A Customer from London, 27th August, 2006

I thought this movie was hilarious. Yes, it's over the top, yes, Owen Wilson pours it on thick, but that's expected. Owen Wilson as the smarmy loser works perfectly against Matt Dillon as the responsible husband. If you're a fan of 'There's Something About Mary', 'Meet the Parents', 'Dodgeball' or 'Wedding Crashers', you'll like this movie. It's that Owen Wilson/Vince Vaughn/Ben Stiller kind of humour...so if you're in the mood for silly fun, you'll enjoy it.

This makes American Pie look like Shakespeare. Avoid this film.

Can I have two hours of my life back please?

Joe Meddings from Milton Keynes, 25th August, 2006

There isn't really any way to dress up this movie - because it just really isn't any good. I'm not sure whether it was the fact that the script seemed underdeveloped and rushed; I'm not sure whether it was the fact that the screenplay didn't seem to flow; and I'm not even sure if it was the fact that it was one of the most horribly miscast movies I've seen for a long time. Michael Douglas was completely wooden as the 'evil father-in-law' character - Matt Dillon didn't seem comfortable in his own character - Kate Hudson didn't seem to fit the movie in the slightest - and even Owen Wilson, who I am particularly a fan of, failed to get the movie going past a tediously slow pace. Over the entire course of the movie, I think I chuckled about 5 or 6 times - and as such, I certainly wouldn't recommend this title. In the slightest.

We Love Dupree!

Laura from Lincolnshire, U.K, 5th June, 2007

This movie is a very typical example of the comedy entertainment coming out of America at the moment, see 'The Break Up' for another example. Easy viewing, great acting, well known stars, cheesy but enjoyable humour. Providing the genre suits your usual taste you will love this movie. Owen Wilson is a personal favourite of mine and he excels in this sort of role - enjoy!

You, Me and Dupree

Great, funny, light hearted film, watched it with my husband and we both really enjoyed it. Owen Wilson is very funny, nothing too heavy when you are tired and want a pick me up.

A bit boring...

A Customer from London, 29th July, 2010

Sorry but have to rate this with only 1 star. I love Rom Coms and even though they are usually fairly predictable this one was just all a bit boring....I kept getting up throughout the film to do other things and coming back to it.... Didn't really like Owen wilson's acting in this film either
