The Hearse
(1980)

|
A chilling psychological tale about a young schoolteacher who, having recently endured personal hardships, begins to question her sanity when she repeatedly encounters a mysterious hearse.

In this competent horror, Trish Van Devere inherits a house from an aunt that turns out to be haunted by a witch who looks exactly like her. The plot is thickened by a hearse that drives itself and Joseph Cotten as the local estate agent. Compared with Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist, The Omen and The Amityville Horror, this wouldn't make a grasshopper jump. However, it's nicely made and features the veteran Cotten in his last major role.
