With more last-minute rescues than the combined Indiana Jones trilogy, this action thriller is not only numbingly predictable, but also robotically performed. Hurtling blindly between various unspecified locations, the plot turns around Edgar Allan Poe-quoting villain J Kenneth Campbell's plan to steal a Russian nuclear submarine by hijacking an American liner. But, unfortunately for him, the ship's skipper is Dale Dye, estranged father of Delta Force commander Michael McGrady. Director Yossi Wein stages the action sequences with the finesse of a runaway bulldozer. But at least his slam-bam tactics go some way to atone for the total inanimation of his bone-headed cast.
