Created by Joel Surnow (LA FEMME NIKITA, MIAMI VICE) and Robert Cochran (LA FEMME NIKITA, THE COMMISH), 24 assumes its familiar format of real-time action, unfolding over the course of a 24-hour period. This season, Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) has gone underground, working on an oil rig near L.A. under an assumed name, But a series of murders targeting the few people who know Jack is still alive brings Jack back to town, just as the president is preparing to sign an arms treaty in L.A. Suddenly, Jack finds himself the prime suspect in his confidantes' murders.

24 fans will love it; others should start with Series 1

wreeve from , 31st December, 2006

I am a huge fan of 24 and if you haven't seen any series then stop reading now, clear 1 hour (that's all it takes to get you hooked) and start with series 1 immediately. Series 5 lacked some of the things that made series 1 and 2 so good, notably the ability to twist your emotions about a character round 180 degrees; the attempt at interesting female characters; etc. It also - er - lacks my favourite character, and has a little too much 'bureaucracy as evil' plot turns. But it has plenty of thrills/spills, and its cliff-hangers, its villains, its finale are among the very best. 24 fans will be on the well-worn edge of their seats.

I love this season!

A Customer from London, England, 9th November, 2006

They just blew a hell of a lot of stuff up. I'm over halfway through and season 5 is shaping up nicely. Anyone watching 24 for total realism is missing the point. This season has moved faster than ever before, it's far more thrilling than the other seasons; this time, prepare for a body count. Ok, they repeat a lot of the same old thing, a mole in CTU, conspiracies, unfortunate 'accidental' killings of their only vital witness at the time only to find a handy clue in their pocket, plenty of torture. But who cares? This time every episode is BIG. There's so much going on and so many twists it doesn't matter how over the top it is. And for once I'm actually intrigued by what the President and his lot are up to. Jean Smart, as his wife, is more than excellent. I hope the series stays this good (I always loved it but this time I really love it). Roll on season 6!

This is what the US do well..

PaulaWestwood from , 28th December, 2006

Forget the 'comedy' shows that have canned laughter to indicate when something is (or should be) funny, the Brits do those far far better than the Americans, This is where the Americans excel... superb gripping dramas, anything from House, CSI or etc etc are well worth a watch and in my opinion vastly superior to anything the UK has produced (since say Cracker). This new 24 does not dissapoint, it is completely engrossing and absolutely entertaining. If you haven't seen Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer in any of the 24's, you have quite sincerely missed out on some of the most gripping TV ever to have entered your living room. I don't just suggest you rent it and watch it, I completely implore you too. It is the best that TV can possibly get.
