Mostly Toss

I'll settle for writing this review from the point of view of the sort of person who might give this film 5 stars. Here goes: 'Duuuh it was really good there was lots of explosions and shooting the plot was really complicated pretty ladies and men with muscles and guns I liked it and I weed a bit'. Says it all.

Good action flick

Not so Silent Bob from Edinburgh, 27th September, 2007

Not Bourne but it doesn't pretend to be. Wahlberg is a great brooding action hero, adding a brain to the brawn. Though considering how clever he is in the remainder of the film he was a tad dim to fall for the conspiracy to begin with! Bring on the sequel though!

Entertaining But Not Original

Mark Wahlberg plays an ex-army sniper who has been brought out of a self-imposed exile to help stop a plot to kill the American President. Things aren't what they seem and Wahlberg finds himself as the fall guy for a shady conglomerate working within the government. He is forced to go on the run and attempt to clear his name. There isn't much originality about Shooter, however there is definitely enough action to keep fans of the genre occupied. There are plot holes, and the reason for the assassination attempt will seem pretty lame but if you can ignore these blips then your enjoyment won't be affected. Wahlberg plays his part of the revenge seeking Bobby Lee Swagger well, and Danny Glover's Colonel Johnson is a 'standard issue' villain who is more smarmy than scary. All in all Shooter is a decent, entertaining action movie that is worth a look if you like the genre. It's not a masterpiece so dont' go in expecting one and you will be happy.

Wahlberg hits the Mark as a sharpshooter

A really good, action packed, intelligent, well paced film following the twists and turns of the governments self retired top marksman, drawn back into action by a plot on the president. Without giving too much away, all is not what it seems, and Wahlberg is made a scapegoat and must dodge and weave his way to the truth taking out anyone who steps in his way. Really entertaining and well made, and even at over two hours long, this goes like a bullet itself and never drags. Definately hits the mark, I would recommend it.

Very good but a definate 'Man' film

Mark Wahlberg (Boogie Nights, Rock Star) stars in this action & twist packed man movie. Excellent gun scenes with twists aplenty. also stars Danny Glover (Lethal Weapon) and Elias Koteas (TMNT). A very decent rent.
