Coming of age in Quebec!

Ed from North London, 28th August, 2006

C.R.A.Z.Y is an engaging and moving coming of age drama set in Quebec. The issues are handled with a subtlety and deftness, sexuality and drug addiction are alluded to with out moralising or excessive sentiment. In addition the nods to pop trends such as Punk and Glam rock make it a treat for those interested in contemporary culture and music! The 'gay' and 'coming out' aspects are not the only aspects of the film, almost anyone might enjoy it. However, die hard homophobes should probably avoid it. They could watch something with Jason Statham or Vinnie Jones in it. Mmmm.

Crazily great!

Alan. from London, England., 11th April, 2007

This film made me cry so much I couldn't stop myself and had to go to my flatmate's room, with no ability to talk! It's a great, funny, touching, film and it's now become officially my best film ever! The actors are great, the canadian accent is so sweet, and it'll touch everybody, especially those who have lost someone in their family, and remind those who have had to hide their homosexuality to heir family that sad feeling they felt at the time.

Magnificent

A Customer from Merseyside, 17th September, 2006

Not a film who's storyline would normally appeal to me, but the stack of good reviews got my interest & boy am I glad it did. The first 20 minutes had me a little sceptical that it was all art & no substance, but as these characters interact over time you just become engrossed & the rest of the film flies by. Stunningly acted, wonderful soundtrack & a complete emotional rollecroaster with superb 3 dimensional characters who have very obvious human flaws but you care deeply for them. Wonderful

You'd be C.R.A.Z.Y. to miss this!!!

A Customer from Sheffield, 27th August, 2006

If you are gay or have grown up with a gay sibling or have a gay child you will no doubt relate to this film. The story is realistic, touching, funny, it had great actors and hits all the spots for a good 'coming out' movie. The soundtrack is brilliant and brings back memories from your own childhood as you watch it. I can't believe someone found something to dislike! Gay up your selection and watch it!

CRAZY

A Customer from Swindon, 19th February, 2010

This is one of the more likeable french movies. It is really warm and engaging and for those of us who can remember - very nostalgic with a feel good thread and ending. It is good to remember how people felt and maybe still feel - about the possibility that their child is gay and how unnecessarily shameful it was - it is a film that shouts out how family love is really important

An amazing film. Don't be put off by the subtitles - it's a gem, and worth every minute of the two hours. One of the few films I've seen recently that I was unhappy to get to the end of - I just wanted to keep watching.

Crazy in love

danieljparsons from , 2nd January, 2010

Absolutely stunning film, telling the story of Zac and his family of four older brothers, mother and father over 25 years from his birth in 1960. I have so many superlatives for this film I risk spouting hyperbole, but this is truly a terrific piece of work. Zac, born on Christmas day, grows up in a Catholic family (and his mother is convinced that that his date of birth means he has powers to heal the sick) feeling isolated, an outcast - he feels inexplicably different and longs only to fit in. As a child, Zac seems to be favored by his father but as he enters his teens there's a key shift change in their relationship and things are never the same. This has to be one of the most successful coming of age films, and more specifically, coming out films I have ever seen. C.R.A.Z.Y. features an exceptional performance from Marc-André Frondin as Zac, who convinces as a 15 year old right up until his mid twenties, inspired direction, with an array of camera and effects techniques that never grow tired and avoid pastiche, a perfect soundtrack (Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Patsy Kline, Pink Floyd) and a resonant, moving story. Gripping from beginning to end credits, the film finishes on a hopeful note that feels genuinely earned. *Love* it.

C.R.A.Z.Y.

A Customer from West Drayton, 17th September, 2009

Was quite a weird film altogether made worse because it had English subtitles so one had to watch closely the whole way through. Had i known it was French i would not have hired it. not a light hearted film. Not one of those films you might like to watch a 2nd time at a later stage.
