The Japanese mystery thriller KEIZOKU - UNSOLVED CASES sees young female police chief Jun Shibata (Miki Nakatani, RING, RING 2)--of the Unsolved Cases Division--being called in to observe a reunion of shipwreck survivors on a remote island, but it soon turns into a succession of mysterious murders of the survivors. The film sees the first big screen outing for the successful Japanese television drama series KEIZOKU and invokes a dark and at times surreal atmosphere as Shibata and her partner Toru Mayama (Atsuro Watabe, THREE...EXTREMES) investigate the murders on the isolated island.

yes, but no, but no, but yes!

Sumiatik Wong from hastings, 6th September, 2006

Erm... I stuck with the film, which was like the tv series lost, but without the action. By the end of the film i had absolutely no idea who what why or when, but parts of it were quite interesting, with a little twist. Overall i wouldn't advise you to get your hopes up before watching this.

Not Quite

ELWisty from , 5th October, 2006

I think there was an interesting film in there trying to get out, but it didn't quite manage to do it. Some of the action was a little madcap, and the central plot of murders was solved two thirds of the way through the film. After that my attention began to wander and the last half hour just passed me by. Not a complete waste of time, but I wouldn't recommend this film unless you have a particular interest in it.

There is only one existing review and that is from Sumiatik Wong of Hastings. I agree entirely with that review and I watched the DVD twice!I have seen a few Foreign Arthouse films and was able to say 'Yes' or 'No' at the end. This one is weird, confusing but certainly not thrilling.I can only sum it up as 'so so'.It is all the more confusing because one has to watch an ever changing storyline and read subtitles at the same time. Not very entertaining.
