Life continues to befuddle hapless millionaire (and SEINFELD producer) Larry David in this fifth season of shows. As usual, Larry is joined by his faithful, beleaguered wife, Cheryl (Cheryl Hines), and his manager, Jeff (Jeff Garlin), while regular guests such as Ted Danson, Wanda Sykes, and Richard Lewis are on hand to add to the mayhem. The fun begins with Larry wondering whether he's adopted after his father seems to suggest that he might be, leading to a long-standing subplot that runs through the entire season. But as Larry tries to figure out his past, the present throws innumerable curveballs in his direction, with gay rights activists unhappy with him, a sandwich that bears his name not being quite to his taste, and a Seder set up by Cheryl ending in disaster. While season five will present comfortable and familiar viewing for those already familiar with Larry's antics, there are a few surprises in store, especially as the final episode careers towards an unexpected ending.

LARRY DIES!

A Customer from London, 17th December, 2006

Larry David reminds me more and more of myself every day. I can actually imagine myself getting involved in all of his side splitting adventures and reacting exactly the same way. This show has lost nothing as the seasons have progressed.. thank god they are making season 6

Very Funny

R Hashem from Essex, 20th December, 2006

Takes a while to get used to the production style and camera work - but once you get into it, you'll be hooked. It follows the antics of one of the real-life co-creators of the Seinfeld comedy - Larry David. He is a successful writer, where although he has a great lifestyle, nothing seems to go right in his social life. The verbal inter-play with his wife Cheryl is the best. She's great in the role. I can't get enough of this guy! I am now going to go back to the beginning and watch Season 1 onwards.

TIME TO GO

Nib from , 6th November, 2007

Series 5's finale is awful and the worst episode of the 50. It's time for CYE to end now, it has been a wonderful breath of fresh air, original, enjoyable and above all very funny. These are the reasons it has to end. If a seventh series gets the go ahead then I am afraid they will be accused of really milking it.

Larry David is genius, but has he finally run out of ideas?

Saulie from , 23rd June, 2009

I've only recently discovered curb your enthusiasm and can't believe that something as good as this has been kept secret here in the UK and only given late night slots.

It's not laugh out loud funny, and not filled with constant tacky feel-good humor in the way that a sitcom like friends is, however it's so original and will have you cringing and laughing throughout.

Although I must admit, it's not something I would have normally picked up and happened to watch by accident, it absolutely blew me away.

As for this seasons finale however, without spoiling it, the ending was certainly un-predictable, however lame at the same time. It's a cheap way to get out of a complicated situation, seems like Larry just ran out of ideas at last.

Thanks Larry

Conflating the inane with the dead serious, turning kidney donation into a thing to be argued over in the same way that people squabble over suspected cheating in a Bingo game... this is what makes Larry David's material work like magic. What is funnier than petty neurosis? (Is the answer serious neurosis?). I suspect that my NY roots might bias my critique, but it is refreshing to watch something from out of Hollywood that is so natural, believable, human, and not too far up its own bottom.
