well worth waiting for

Mick Williams from stoke on trent, england, 13th September, 2006

i saw this show on television and have been waiting for the dvd release. it tells the story of a muslim undercover agent who infiltrates a 'sleeper cell', a group of terrorists waiting for orders to carry out atrocities. what sets this show aside from the numerous others we've had since 9/11 is that it's not biased towards the west at all. it gives a balanced look at the beliefs of muslims and their view of the koran. i'm no expert, but seeing the side not shown on the news is a welcome relief. the other good thing is that the show moves, initially, at quite a slow pace, allowing us to get to know each of the terrorists. each of them has his own reasons for being there and by the end of the show, you could actually feel sympathy for them as people. all the way through, darwyn (the agent) is in fear for his life, if he's uncovered he'll be killed without hesitation. when he gets involved with a woman, things get very complicated! it's all very well written, well acted and well directed. you'll be really pleased you gave it ten hours of your life!

Red Rag to the Red Necks

The concept behind this series is very good, show the average American that not all Muslims are bad people, but be careful who you trust. Unfortunately the good start wanders off and begins to try and feed every paranoia known to mankind. Is the Hero really good? Are the baddies just misguided? Is the girl friend sincere or just using his body for sex? etc. etc. I think that the actors do a very credible job with some awfully thin material and that as a whole the photography is good. It certainly was not boring to watch, but where were the plot points and what was the moral of the story they are trying to tell? There is a mixture of love thine enemy but get him before he does it to you. Do not trust your undercover agent and go for the 'Quick Wins'. If at first you don't blow it up take it out on the Beagles! I realise that the situation in the real world is confused, difficult and deadly. Some of that comes through in the script, but what is the main storyline about? Perhaps it is that bad men make good bowlers. I am so glad that I hired this series as I would have been disappointed to have bought the Box Set and then be confused. Better than some US crime series but it needs to get a grip a give a point to its stories before the audience gets too confused. However it is more entertaining than 'Eastenders', but then so is a visit to the Dentist. OK but no cigar!

Excellent

broj from from Manchester, 4th November, 2006

There is no pleasing some people. The series was very watchable and I looked forward to each episode. If you like 24 on TV, you should enjoy this. There isn't quite as much action as 24 but nevertheless, its good.

Not as good as reviews

A Customer from Scotland, 12th October, 2006

I thought long & hard before rating this series. I give it 2 because despite the hype 1) it is overblown -it would have fitted into 4/5 episodes easily. The series is 'enhanced by several missions the cell meet drug dealers, the cell meet white supremacists, the cell smuggle anthrax, Darwin helps a young afghan and so on. 2) the ending is crap Ok I wasn,t expecting Die Hard but Eastenders has been more exciting 3) None of the characters are likeable - the bad guys aren't that bad, the good guys are bland/cliched if i keep going on I think I'll give it 1 star

Brilliant Series, well balanced view portraying both sides of one heated debate. Cast excellent. Pity the second series did not match the quality of the first one.

I've given it 3 stars because 2 seemed a little harsh. it's not that I didn't like it just that it didn't pull me in. I can see the appeal but this wasn't for me. I won't be watching the rest of the season or any other season for that matter.

Good Show!

danlomas from , 20th January, 2008

I watched this series based on the comparisons with the mighty show 24. It was said that this series was better then its rival. What i would say though that this show is not as tense or has lots of heart stopping moments as 24, but gave you a different approach then 24 did.The series is focused on the terrorists, you get to understand their morals and reasons for the negative approach towards America. Even though they are still insane, the show sticked with the terrorists rarther then watching the goodies uncover suprises. On that basis there was no suprises, sometimes a bit boring during the middle of the series but had a good ending. If your looking for something to watch, give Sleeper Cell a go.
