Not too Shabby

Stewart Kinnon from Linwood, 3rd April, 2007

An enjoyable little film, although a bit fluffy, No where near as good as the orginal, however still fun. They use at least three dogs in the film and they all look completely different

True dedication

hardrider from from ASHTON UNDER LYNE, 9th July, 2007

A true story well told, with just enough romancing to fuel the imagination and yet keep it believable. At first i thought i would watch it for my wifes' sake but must confess we enjoyed it equally well. The actors although perhaps not 'superstars' were well directed and a credit to their craft with good casting making the characters come to life very well. No fantasy, gratuitous violence or 'special effects' but a good dramatisation of a story/legend that despite various films and books, still remains relatively unknown outside Edinburgh. Although perhaps not a 'classic' it is well worth the watching of,if only to realise that sex and violence don't make a film great.

well, movie itself seems to be lovely specially for youngsters - but unfortunately it is all in Scottish with no English subtitles - so very difficult to understand what exactly are they saying.

Poor remake

A Customer from Cheshire, 27th November, 2006

Stick to the Disney original. The child in this version was a complete pain in the neck - even the dog was irritating!

The Adventures of Greyfriars Bobby

Watch out for the scene where the cute wee doggy gets injured when stabbed on the back! It's only for an instant and is more suggestive than gratuitous but enough to really upset young children. What's annoying is that I didn't know it was in the movie, and so we were caught unaware, as it's certainly not in any of the versions of the story I've seen - we had been at Greyfriars Kirk only the week before. I'm not criticising the embellishments to the story, seems to have been happening from the day it started. However it's an enchanting story to children and in my view the movie is ruined as an experience by some unnecessary dramatisation.

Great Family Entertainment!

thestylefairy from , 15th October, 2009

We all enjoyed this version of the classic tale of the little dog. It's a film that the whole family can watch together, not mainstream but beautifully acted and filmed. Really heartwarming!
