Miracle Man On The Revenge Trail.

Ian Davies from Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, 30th July, 2006

Some of the images and ideas of this old style Kung Fu revenge tale are taken straight from Sergio Leone's 'Once Upon A Time in America'. Wong Tao is the silent avenger out to destroy all the members of the gang that murdered his father. The fights are mostly pretty standard with a few quirky elements thrown in by Tommy Lee's choreography. Wu Ma directs as well as playing a supporting role. Wong Toa's only line in the film is the final one. The only let down for me is that most of the fights seem to be lacking any real power. That quibble aside, this is a very enjoyable old style Kung Fu revenge story that translates well from the Spaghetti Western origins.

This Tiger Has Claws

Wong Tao is so cool in this, it really suits him playing the silent hero. This Martial Art version of a certain Western is shot so well it feels like an 'epic' with a decent budget. If this had some great fights in it this would of become a Kung Fu classic. The thing is the fights are dissapointing as its the old 1-2 old school style. That said i would love to see more Westerns being ripped-off if Kung-Fu films look this good. A worthy rental.
