Bruce Willis hits the mark as Jack Mosley, a broken-down New York City police detective assigned to escort a petty criminal from the precinct to the courthouse. The seemingly simple 16-Block journey becomes a test of character for them when Jack's ex-partners attempt to stop them. It's the gripping story of how two men change each other during a tense 118 minute struggle between life and death.

Intresting !

James Long from Bristol,England, 31st May, 2006

I've Seen every bruce willis film that he has ever made or had a cameo apperence in and i can say that this is definately not the worst film bruce willis has ever starred in, lets not forget the period after die hard where bruce willis could have ended up as a b or c list celebrity if his career had not been revived by pulp fiction and then following up with twelve monkeys, remeber those terrible films where he tried to shed his die hard image, blind date, striking distance, hudson hawk. anyhow.....my review on the film. 16 Blocks is a wonderful thrill ride with lots of action/suspense and mild comedy. Any Bruce Willis fan would love this like they did Hostage. Willis plays Jack Mosley, a drunk/hungover cop that seems to have lost his touch. He gets all the scrap jobs that no one wants and one of these jobs brings him straight to Mos Def who plays Eddie, a very hard to understand, very talkative guy who has apparently witnessed something and is due to testify at 10 sharp. It's about 2 hours until he has to be at the court house which is 16 blocks away and a hell of a lot of cops standing in the middle. Mosley doesn't entirely know what to believe, the kid or his ex partner of 20 years but he puts his faith into the kid and the thrill ride begins. Hands down the best dirty cop film I've seen in a while.

Felt like I had ran 16 blocks

Mbub from Westbury, Wilts, 9th May, 2007

A good cop has to protect a prisoner/witness from other cops who are out to kill him. This is a normal run of the mill good cop movie. Nothing really amazing here, but Bruce Willis plays the part well and the movie gets you to the end with a good pace. An average film.

Don't miss this sleeper film now its on dvd !

Nicola from Sleaford,Lincolnshire, 25th August, 2006

This had very good reviews,on its cinema release, even for its short run on the big screen, and one i wanted to see for quite some time,a superb cop thriller in the vein of Clint Eastwoods The Gauntlet,a dead beat cop given a routine job of escorting a prisoner 16 blocks to a courthouse to testify against high ranking officers, but what they didnt bank on was, this cops need to do whats right! good characters well thought out script, and easily bruce willis at his best, with mos def as the prisoner a very good film, which keeps you watching to the end! rent this or buy it,worthy of being in your collection!

Enjoyable

A Customer from London, England, 22nd August, 2006

When I intially saw the trailer I thought this was a re-make of The Gauntlet - Clint Eastwood, which it is but fortunately they have come up with there own ideas, Bruce Willis is in top form, as a drunken, washup, burn out cop, given every worse job going. The film has some nice twists, and gives a nod or 2 to Clint's movie, see the bus part! Yes I recommend this!

16 Blocks

CR5 from , 15th March, 2010

Not a bad film overall as these things go, but there are a few irritating points. Probably the worst of these is Mos Def who at times (and for that read 90% of the time) is almost totally incomprehensible. Does he speak like that in real life or was he putting on a special effort? The plot moves along Ok but the bad guys seem to catch up too quickly and regularly for tension to build and then you are left with yet another fire-fight and miraculous escape. Entertaining enough in the way of seeing how the heroes manage to escape again and that's what keeps you watching.

Worth a watch !

A Customer from Wimborne Dorset, 6th March, 2010

This film could have been so much more... I feel cheated ! A brilliant story-line, a great cast, but somethings amiss here - a real shame cause this could have been a winner. The whole good cop bad cop routine works well. The only downside was Mos Def, half the time I was clueless as to what he was actually talking about, his character's speech & accent were virtually incomprehensible. In fact this could well be the missing link as to why I felt that the movie lacked something.

16 rocks

muggs from , 2nd March, 2010

Bruce makes a good hero but normaly a real action hero , in this he plats a washed up alcoholic cop . His job is to get a witnes 16 blocks to court to bare witnes to a group of bent cops . As the film unfolds the witnes is to testify against some of bruces friends , bruce along the way finds that he has a back bone and trys to save the witnes .You wouldnt think in 16 blocks much could happen but this is a very good film and a twist on his normal action style , well worth youe time .

I expected a better plot.....a little lame to be honest, and rather disappointing. Would not personally recommend this film to my friends!!
