Everyone's favourite puppet comedians re-interpret a family classic in 'The Muppets Wizard Of Oz'. Pop star Ashanti stars as Dorothy, who lives in Kansas with her Auntie Em (Queen Latifah) while dreaming of success as a singer in Hollywood. Her wishes just might come true when a tornado whisks her away to the magical land of Oz, where she hears about a great wizard who can grant your greatest desires. Along with an unusual gang of misfits the Scarecrow (Kermit the Frog), the Tin Thing (Gonzo), and the Cowardly Lion (Fozzie Bear) she sets off to find the Wizard. But before she gets there, she'll have to contend with the jealous and overbearing Wicked Witch of the West (Miss Piggy). 'The Muppet's Wizard Of Oz' takes a classic tale and emphasises the fun and comedic elements, as the Muppets always do.

Kid's will Love it !!!

ShineyKev from Tybe & Wear, 12th April, 2006

My 3 year old daughter is now a major muppet fan.

The magical tale of T.W.O.O is retold as only the muppets can do.

All the favourites are back ... Kids young and old will love it!!!

MORE MUPPET MAGIC!

RXJ from Wirral, UK, 7th April, 2006

Great fun, highly entertaining for young & old alike. The Muppets add all their usual enduring comedy magic to this updated version of the Wizard of Oz. Kermit is the Scarecrow, Frozzy Bear is the Cowardly Lion, and Gonzo is the Tin 'thing'! Add Miss Piggy playing a heavy metal biker version of the Wicked Witch of the West, and the beautiful Ashanti as Dorothy, and you've got yourself another Muppet Classic! Enjoy!

Muppet fans avoid

A Customer from Hemel Hempstead, 2nd January, 2010

As an avid Muppet fan I was dissapointed. The origonal Oz film is much better. The muppets are great when they are singing or inacting with real people but put them in a film and the illusion is lost. Sorry but there it is. And I am a puppetter as well.

Not exactly Judy Garland

A Customer from Stone, 28th January, 2009

The story and presentation stick reasonably closely, allowing for the actors, to the book's plot, and therefore quite close to the previous - let's face it - iconic film (1938 or so). But it suffers from having less music - and what there is of a lesser value - than in the earlier version. Authenticity good point: the magic shoes are their proper colour (silver) rather than ruby. It's pleasant to see the usual suspects, of course; and the activities of Miss Piggy (being, among other roles, Wicked Witch of the West) as a Biker Queen are pretty good (hommage a Richard Wagner and all). But, alas, I don't feel compelled to see it again - pity. Are the Muppets better in shorter takes, I wonder, than protracted works of this kind? More research needed: watch for later reviews of similar shows, then.
