Excellent Film

A Customer from Lancashire, England, 11th September, 2005

Don't let the bad reviews put you off this movie. These reviews almost put my friend and I off but we were both pleasently suprised! It is an original, well acted, gripping film that I would definately watch again. It stars the brilliant Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, The Wedding Crashers, Mean Girls) who just gets bettr and better in every film I see her in. Definately worth the watch!

A damn fine thriller

joshie1 from South Glamorgan, 26th October, 2005

Red Eye is most definitely one of the few sleeper hits of 2005. A good simple plot, decent cast and varied action sequences makes for a truly exciting film experience. Admittedly the film does lose pace when the plane lands and the end is creepily reminiscent to the beginning of Cravens other hit, Scream, but is still entertaining. When the plane is in the air and the always impressive Cillian Murphy turns from charming to chilling the film is undoubtedly at its paramount. Plus the always great Brian Cox and the almost too pretty Rachel McAdams make for even easier watching. Overall it's a fine hour and a half that pulls out all of the stops until you're well and truely entertained.

Dud Eye

What a pile of pants. Cheap production values, terrible script, this is basically Disney does Wes Craven for under £100. This is one of the most pathetic excuses for a thriller I have ever seen. Like a TV movie, but much worse. It all looked so promising:- Rachel McAdams (one of Hollywood's most beautiful young actresses, great in Mean Girls) Cillian Murphy (Awesome in Batman Begins and Breakfast on Pluto) Brian Cox (A mighty fine established actor) And an average *** review on this site. But even Marlon Brando couldn't do justice to this script which must've been written by a 4yr old with learning difficulties. I can't comprehend how anybody could give this nonsense more than 1 star!?? What were you thinking?! - are the only movies you've ever seen before 'Police Academy 6', 'Three Men and A Little Lady' & 'Blues Brothers 2000' ?!? Please do not waste your time with this movie. For a decent thriller watch 'Don't Look Now', any Hitchcock movie, 'Panic Room', 'The Night of the Hunter' or even 'Air Force One' (if you REALLY want to watch a thriller set on an aeroplane). If my only achievement on this earth by the time I die is to have convinced at least one person not to watch this movie, I can die a happy man.

This film had my attention all the way through till the end, the performances from both key characters were brilliantly acted. I'd recommend this film to anyone.

A lot better than expected

A Customer from Farnborough, 26th February, 2010

When you consider that most of this film revolves around the two main characters seated on a plane talking to each other, this film was actually rather good. There was, of course, some side action, but the story line kept you interested throughout. Murphy makes a great villian, who gets his just desserts at the end. Definitely worth a watch. It won't set the world alight, but is a good film none-the-less.

Shows what can be done with "unknown" actors

IanStewart from , 21st November, 2009

There wasn't a single 'known face' in this film (and director Wes Craven said he'd made up the cast list with that in mind, i.e. no big-name stars). And the 'new faces', plus Craven as director, give us a 5-star movie. As we see the 'new faces' among the actors, it makes it more easy for us to see real people (well, that's how it seemed to me) - and especially this un-suspecting woman, stuck on a plane with the chilling hit-man: planes and airports never seem to change much over time. This is just a 'routine' flight, until... Smashing action sequences toward the end of the film, so hang on if the earlier parts seem a bit 'slow' - it all comes together in the end, or maybe I'd better say it all blows apart in the end. Good'un, I'll be watching out for Craven's next non-horror movie.
