Moonlighting - DVD not worth buying

A Customer from London, England, 17th July, 2004

I was a child of the Eighties and remember this programme and the format of the series, but was unfamiliar with the actual stories.

As with a lot of TV programmes that have made their way onto DVD the are only 3 episodes on the disc, which is very disappointing.

Of the stories the first, which was the first ever episode (the pilot) was very good.

The other two were dissappointing stories, especially the last one, in which no crime is solved. It is based around Maddie's baby in the womb, very boring.

What really disappointed me though was the fact that the disc wasn't the first three episodes but episodes from different seasons.

I'd hire another Moonlighting DVD to watch other episodes, but would prefer the DVDs to play the episodes in order. I wouldn't buy this.

Not for fans

A Customer from London, 21st December, 2004

For all you old moonlighting fans, don't bother. There are three episodes on this dvd; the pilot, very wobbly, the cast not yet into their stride; the surreal episode with Bruce Willis in the womb, the scriptwriter clearly off his head that day; and one rather mediocre episode. Would have been better to choose three episodes at random.

Poor episodes

I can't imagine anyone wanting to rent this unless they've seen the show - so I'm not going to elaborate on stars etc! This DVD contains the pilot and two episodes from the series.

The pilot is reasonably watchable stuff, and the first episode is a run-of-the-mill moonlighting classic, plenty of chase scenes and will they won't they. But the second episode "womb with a view" starts well, but then degenerates into a "best-of". I can't imagine who though it was a good idea to include this episode out of all the available material. All in all, watchable stuff, but don't expect to see the anything memorable - maybe they were hoping it would sell so well they could release the lot.

If you've never seen it before...

A Customer from Edinburgh, 15th September, 2009

Don't bother with this disc! It contains the pilot - which sets up the premise. Sadly it was so dull that two out of the four viewers fell asleep during its 90 minute run. The second episode feels obvious and unresolved. The third episode is insubstantial, insensitive nonsense, one out of four viewers left in disgust. The remaining were transfixed by its awfulness and fast forwarded through to the end - which was horrible and stupid. The writers clearly were as immature as the characters and could not commit to changing the format to include a baby in the cast - so removed the problem in this crass manner. There are better detective shows from this era.

disappointing

Disjointed and disappointing. Certainly don't bother buying it. Highlight was watching Bruce Willis playing the part of a baby.. clever and inventive scene of in the womb.

Why these episodes??

A Customer from London, 27th November, 2007

I rented this for a nostalgia trip, having loved the series as I grew up. I agree that having only 3 episodes on the disc is disappointing, but worse is the fact that they are not in order, but are seemingly random. I also agree with past reviewers that the last episode, Womb with a view or something, was from a different series, and was incredibly dull (other than watching Brucey squirm in his baby outfits). Watch the first two on this disc then give up. No extras either.
