An eager publicist discovers Jimmy Tompkins (Elvis Presley) while she's touring through the South with a swingin' hillbilly band. Convinced of his talent, she persuades the guys to give the young man a chance. The pairing clicks and the group starts to take off, "creating" an early form of rock-n-roll along the way. As Jimmy becomes more successful he pursues a romance with a comely country gal (Lizabeth Scott), but finds himself increasingly confused about the new course his life is taking. Things really heat up when the band lands a spot on national TV--their one shot at the big time. Will the King bail out just as things are getting good

GREAT SONGS -SHAME ABOUT THE STORY

David Gathercole from Kenilworth, Warwickshire, England, 7th April, 2006

The story is pretty poor - not Elvis' own life story, by any means - but totally redeemed by the singing performance which is simply awesome - buy the LP!

An Elvis classic

A Customer from London, England, 5th February, 2006

'Loving You' is a genuine Elvis classic and an absolute 'must have' for any true fan of the undisputed king of Rock 'n' Roll from the days when he was lean, mean and magnificentand and had a hip wiggle that drove the girls crazy. Only Presley's second ever feature film and his first in colour, this rocking romance uncannily mirrors Elvis's own explosion onto the scene and rocket ride to fame and fortune. His raw animal presence leaps sensationally from the screen in the all-singing, all dancing story of humble delivery boy turned rock 'n' roll star Deke Rivers - featuring the hit songs Teddy Bear, Got A Lot Of Livin' To do, Hot Dog, Mean Woman Blues, Party and of course, the tender ballad Loving You. First released in the cinema in 1957, the movie showed Elvis had genuine acting talent with his gritty and emotional portrayal of a simple country boy catapulted to stardom.

Deke Rivers is a delivery man, who is discovered by publicist Glenda Markle and country-western musician Tex Warner, who want to promote the talented newcomer to fame and fortune, giving him every break he deserves. Romantic complications arise as Susan Jessop, another singer in the group, offers him devoted admiration as Glenda leads him on with promises of a golden future.
