WOLF CREEK

Marvel from Surrey, 19th September, 2005

A bit of a slow burner, but worth the wait. The story revolves around three backpackers, who are travelling across Australia. They decide to visit a meteor crater, where their car fails to start leaving them stranded in the middle of the Australian outback. There is some great acting, and the tension is brilliantly built up with the eerie atmosphere. This film has been likened to the Blair Witch Project, and I can see the connection with the genuine fright the characters demonstrate. I also feel that the way the story comes together, has a bit of 'My Little Eye' about it. The film is unclear as to whether the events are true, making this film even more scary. A must for horror fans! GO WATCH THIS FILM!!!

Terrific indie thriller

Melon from East Sussex, 19th September, 2005

Just saw this at the flicks. It works on a different level to most standard horror films where you're waiting for the next stock jump to come along. At times it feels almost documentary-like and as such is completely gripping. It's simple and very, very effective, with great performances all round (Jarrett's Mick Taylor is a genuinely original and very, very real screen monster). I almost think of it as more of a thriller than a straight horror, due to the totally realistic feel all the way through. Gore-hounds may be disappointed by the all-too gritty violence while those of a sensitive nature should just stay the hell away. (It's also the best-photographed DV film I've yet seen.)

Fancy a FRIGHT!

AdrianWalsh from , 15th November, 2005

Have got to agree with Marvel here - the tension that is built up is great, you really do fear for the characters lives and this film is not predictable in anyway - it turns, jumps and throws you off track. I have heard a great deal of bad press regarding this film and I really can't understand why. I thought it was excellent and is a must see for anyone who fancies a fright!

Really frightning, and the fact that the story is actually supposed to be true is what makes it more scary! Good film for those who like to get a good fright, very gory though! The baddy is a brilliant actor, he is so chilling. Not for the faint hearted!

Some films.....

chiccinbum from , 22nd February, 2010

Some horrors make you hold your breath in anticipation, gasp with terror, build tension and know exactly when to let it ease and build more. Some make you jump, wonder what will happen next, draw you in with excellent acting and plot. Some allow your own imagination to work its own magic by knowing what to show you and what to leave to you. This fim did none of these things. You always know a horror has failed when you laugh uproariously. In that respect, this film succeeded.

Wolf Creek

savbmw from , 17th February, 2010

Not quite the 'shocker' I was expecting from the trailer, however, the fact that it is based on a true event does give it that shocking edge. Takes a while to get get going with the first 30 minutes concentrating on how our intrepid three back packers get to Wolf Creek and nothing really happens to grab your attention. As soon as they meet the bad guy of the film it all changes and you can't take your eyes off it from then on. Definately worth your time if you like the type of film that stirs up that morbid fascination in us.
